Nanaki Originally formed by bassist Emma Ryan and guitarist/keyboardist/programmer Mikie Daugherty as a studio-based songwriting partnership, Nanaki have since expanded to become an explosive live act. The Line-up has seen the addition of Matt Gell (drums), Steve Halsall (guitar), Dan Ankers (guitar/second bass)and Andy Clarke (Keyboard) and has gained a reputation for being a fiercely intense and painfully loud live experience, with blood regularly being spilled onstage as the band viciously attack their instruments.
The first album 'Fashion Is The Enemy Of All Art', containing songs from the early sessions was released in the summer of 2003. The band have also had tracks included on the first two 'Alt-Rock' compilations featuring a variety of bands from the Manx music scene. With new material being written the band intend to return the studio to record more material, hoping to truly capture the visceral power and energy of their onstage performances.
Nanaki Lists the following Influences
Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Pixies, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky, The Cure, etc
