Noticing how well Jez is doing with his new album, and other artists doing the same. I'm seriously starting to think about finally getting my own completed (it just requires final mastering).
The problem is that I don't have access to a decent printer (for the cover), no real way of labelling CDs and don't even have a paypal account. Add the fact that the price of ink cartridges cripples me....even using my bog standard quality ink jet...and I have a problem.
So I was wondering if there would be anyone...that I could trust...that would be prepared to sell it for me.
Anyone who applied would have to do the cover, labelling, distribution etc. themselves.
but would be able to keep 100% of any profits. I would ask for nothing.
I'm not in the least interested in making money from my music, in fact I'd rather not!!! I'd give the album away free if I could afford to.
I don't think it would be a big job, I would expect to sell, posibly around five copies...certainly no more than 10. I really don't have that many people who like my stuff enough to want a whole album of it.
Anyone interested?

If you do all the artwork and you can't find anyone a bit more local, I'd do it for you Ffabbia. I'll price it at materials + postage.

maybe the site could do something for artists such as yourself, if all the artwork etc. was supplied.
Only problem being that paypal take a percentage of each transaction, so it would end up being worth very little.
Anyone has thoughts on mp3unsigned doing something along these lines, please post in here.

I've put some thought into something like this before.
I think if we had a special deal with a manufacturer we could start our own record label. How cool would that be? If we could make CDs to order then we'd have one over every other OMD.
However, the costs involved in something like that are ridiculous, and as I have experienced, due to the exchange rate at the mo, people in N.America can sell mass-produced CDs cheaper (eg $10) than we can afford to get them made and shipped, so its really not worth the effort.
If we were looking into something like that, we'd need to look for a manufacturer in the US or maybe even somewhere else like eastern Europe, then get them shipped here.
Alternately, we could go down the colour laser-printer and cd-burner route which has certain start-up costs but is probably more suited to small runs of CDs.
I know a bit about mastering and artwork....
Man, I've really gone off on one, what fumes are leaking out of these bottles here? lol

hmm...Kinking thap time.......
Jon, thanks, that's asking a lot though. It will mean overseas postage for you, and you would likely be inconvenienced.
We need to think of something in relation to what Stew suggested. Not much time now though 'cos I'm a work.

Once again though Mary, as with Jon. This would surely inconvenience you? as it would force you to make postages overseas, and would this not cost you a lot of money?
I don't want to exploit you, and it seems unfair forcing you to distribute my CDs from Canada, it could possibly put you out of pocket?
However I'm deeply greatful for your offer, and the thought of things like shrink wrap, professional printing...that's sure tempting, and more than I ever expected.

STEW,,,it's unfortunate that I live here in Canada. I'm sure this would out a lot if I were closer. We do ship around the world....
