Hi Snowwhitedove,

Lovely song.  You have nice vocals too.  If you don't mind and it's an honest opinion but I find that the pads used are drowning out the keyboard used.  Maybe introducing the pads a bit later and increasing the level of the piano.  Your beautiful voice tends to stand backish and should be more upfront.

I listened to the song and was waiting for something but the song seemed to go like this _______.  It's not bad but that type of song would or actually that song would sound nice if you gradually added other instrumentaton such a a bass at the second chorus and from there you can gradually give rise with maybe a string crescendo if you know what I mean?  Maybe even adding a light drum track to go with the bass to build the song.  Your voice is beautiful but when you sing,  give the dynamic feel using the words.  Listen to the words and sing them as if you really mean't it.  It might sound harsh but for this song and your vocals it is well worth it.  It's only my suggestion and if you need some help let me know or PM me.

Nice song Carolanne,

I agree, progression is a key in this style of music. The voice is wonderful, Just needs a little more buildup. This is not my genre by far, so I wouldn't take my advice for anything. But, I felt the same way as Mary when I listened to it.

Hi all!

Thanks for all your comments.  This song was actually never meant to be heard by anyone but me.  As I'm sure you can tell, it was very personal.  The recording is 3 years old and was done in one take.  The keyboard you hear is a Korg-X3 set on Layer Piano.  Since there was no way to actually fade anything in or out, I just played it straight through.  I had $30 sequencing equipment and an old computer and since the hiss got louder with each track and I didn't know what to do about it, I never tried to layer in other instruments.  But what you describe is something I would do.  Add one thing at a time to build suspence.

Guess the trouble is I love writing, but haven't much time for developing what I hear in my head.  When I'm singing, I can hear what all the instruments should do, and so sing along with them, but I forget everyone else can't hear them! LOL

I posted the song at the begging of a friend of mine.  It took me 3 years to say "Yes".

As for my vocals, I wasn't singing full voice (singing into a computer 'headset' mic), hince the near 'yodel' you hear when I sing the words 'need' and 'feed', an attempt at not peaking out the mic.

I've never been quite comfortable with my voice because it's so much larger than most I sing with.  I always down play and try to blend.  It's a habit that has become so prominent until  I still sound like I'm trying to sing background rather than lead.  I'm working on that. :-)

After not hearing the song for 3 years, I can hear some DEFINITE place for improvement in vocals.  I wasn't sure how long I should hold the 'ow' part of the word 'hour' nor how long I should wait to do the 'r'.  The same goes for the word 'power'.

I'm working on reproducing the track.  I can sequence decently when I have time and now have all the proper equipment.  New keyboard is next, for now I still have my trusty x3.:-)  Thanks again for being VERY honest!  That is just what I like and just what I need!  Your comments are 'encouragement' to me!
