After much mixing,  remixing, recording, re-recording, dithering and grimacing, I've got my first few recordings sounding something like I want them. I'm very pleased to be on board, there's such a wealth of talent on here. I'm very much on the start of the learning curve so any advice etc would be welcomed.
 Big thanks to those who have visited already...

Forgot to add, thanks for the advice, I only have a basic hand drum and tambourine at the moment, 1 dynamic mike and me instruments. It's a very basic set-up. You're on the money with the eq comment- I took some bass off because it was vibrating my speakers at quite a low volume but I may have overdone it. Your kind of production is something to aspire to.( I checked out your page).
