Hi, not technical or musical help, just wondered if anyone has experianced what i'm going through, i can't seem to start a new tune, i've not lost interest in music, i cant wait to get home from work so i can go in my studio, but when i do i can't get anything started, it's been about 2 weeks or so like this now, i suppose a writer would call it writers block, and i have had it befor, but not for this long, i usually have an idea what my next tune is gonna be befor i've finished the current one, it got me wondering, what if i never get inspired again SCARY
 , i'm sure i will, has anyone had this happen to them?

Cheers marty, quite a few of the posts i could realy relate too, i suppose i'll just have to sit it out and not push it, i feel like if i did come up with something brilliant i wouldn't even realise it, so i think i'll get p*ssed and watch the simpsons for a bit
 my girlfriend is very understanding about me spending time in the studio and sometimes i think i'm not being fair to her, and wish i could leave music alone for a bit, i'll be carefull what i wish for next time. it's all or nothing with me

i never had writers block...all tho i did pretty much give up for about 8 years... i never gave up with the music.... just stopped recording what i was writing.... what i do know if im running short of inspiration.... get extremely hammered... and hit record.... and then go back to it sober...or write something completely different to what i would normally do.... and then re go over it again and again till something @ least audible comes out of it.... i have lots of projects on going.... so if i run out of inspiration on one thing.... i have others to go back to and hopefully if i flirt with it enough i get a track worth uploading.... i got about 60 half started tracks... so next year i should maybe make @ least 30 of them in to finished productions

Yeah happens all the time, Sometimes I'll be so close and then I can't Come up with a chorus or sometimes I can't fit the verses, sometimes no words, I just pile them up and leave And sometimes I'll be thinking of something and bam after a few hours I'll have a few songs, It's crazy or I'm crazy Hehe, most of the songs I have posted are Quick work, and I know I have a problem with the quality of my songs,I don't really take the time to shine them up, as soon as they sound like a song I post them
that is nuts I know. Anyway Just want you to know your not alone and don't let it bother you, when you least expect it you'll be inspired by something, someone, someplace and the songs will Come for sure. Vin |

Hiya Nikjam & Meena, Sorry to hear that,
 I have had times when I wanted to think up something and I had reached a 'creative/writers' block (call it what you like!), but it is really okay. You do just 'go with the flow', don't push it, even let your self take the break if your mind/body is telling you that, cos when you allow it that 'break', you start to get your inspirations again naturally! - but 'not pushing it' when you are not seeming to come up with anything has always been my best remedy!! and then before you know it -  your creative/writers inspiration returns! I posted this in answer to a similar post. Maybe it will help/ EVERYONE goes through this! After ever song I write I fear it might be my last. If i do write and it sucks i keep it. I keep everthing and mine it in the dry times. It will save you from giving up. ERIC
I've had this happen so many times in my life. I've even walked away from music for almost a year because I couldn't come up with a dam thing and I was going out of my mind. Durning this time I wrote a kids album and poems. It was just so different from what I had been doing that it helped me to think in a different way. When I came back I really felt that I was better for having taking the time away. I also at this time read everything i could get my hands on about the art of song/lyric writing. I now take 1-3 week breaks and clean my head out. IT will come back my friend.
