Mancini is a good mate who has been frequenting the foroms of late.  He has asked me to review his track "Use your noodle".

This track starts out solid with a tight beat.  I think i can catch a beat loop that comes in that i have used myself, i think from fruity loops.  Its and half the tempo speed.  After this a vocal sample comes in which resembles George Bush, the worst president America could hope for.  The message is clear that america is breaking rules to achieve their own objective, and even in doing so are not any safer.  I love this message.  I am ashamed of what america is doing to the world, and george bush is making everything that much worse.  Even with that said, the vocal sample is not needed.  I think it takes away from the track drastically. The track as is, could never be played on the radio because of the vocal sample.  It doesnt really fit the upbeat feel of the track, and comes out a little cliche right before the beat comes in.

The track finally starts to really shine when the wah guitar sample comes in.  there is some awesome guitar work in this track, a catchy bass riff, and good percussion.  I personally feel that a different drumbeat pattern is needed to fit the guitar riffs.  Maybe something a little less wild.  Sometimes keeping the beat simple actually equals more power.  The snare is great, the hi hats are nice, and the kick is decent to good.

Overall this track is enjoyable, if you can get passed the vocal sample.  I got tired of the vocals. That much is clear.  this track needs another version, one without the vocals.  The beat is solid. not much is needed to be changed there.  But i think when all the massiveness is happening, a different kick drum pattern would be nice.

Overall i do like this track.  Like ive said and stressed, although i firmly believe in the message the vocals are saying, they are not needed, do not fit well at all, and come off cheesy.  This is an uplifting guitar riff which clashes too hard with the vocals.  Ok so ive stressed what i dont like about the track.  now for the strong positives.  the guitar riff sounds new and refreshing to me.  however there is a tad too much reverb in the riff, creating an overcrowding feel to the song.  the beat is awesome and radio quality.  The guitar riff, minus some reverb is radio quality.  Vocals will never be seen on a radio, or even close.

Without the vocals, i could easily see a radio dj mixing in this track.  However only a minute or two could be mixed in, because as is there is only about 1-2 minutes worth of material.  The vocals bought the track more time, but i didnt like the vocals :)  I would personally rate this a 6.5 or 6.8 and if the vox was taken out this would be a 7 as i could easily see this played on the radio.  Overall good job, and i suggest a vocaless version, and try to add additional elements, maybe some synth work, and lower the reverb feedback on the wah guitar.  good job macini
