I am going to be careful of this one, very careful.
Ok sure he isn’t ever going to be the king of pop or even the most approachable musician, but that’s what gives him his edge.
The best way to describe what Tedd does is take really nice Pads and subtle overtones, you know the kinda sound that makes your ears pick up and make you draw to it. Then add a beat that no normal musician would consider usually accompanied by a Synth rhythm that really throws the whole thing off, and that’s TeddZ.
Doesn’t sound like much when you put it that way, infact sounds boring when you put it that way, but boring is one thing you could never describe his music as. He states that this is one of his earlier pieces, well it shows no signs of it, its fresh, it chops and changes seamlessly from part to part, You can really tell when someone has a passion for music. They don’t need the catchy predictable phrases they can rely on the love of the music to make it work for them.
How would I improve the piece? I probably wouldn’t, my ham-fisted approach could easily throw out the balance that TZ has. The main keyboard sound has a slightly out of tune feel about it but I still think it works.
Overall this artist should trust his inner self more, and ignore the doubtful side to really let loose the artistic TeddZ
