The Journey Alone by Wendi Nelson

Hello, all! Tedd-Z again! You know the drill by now!

"The Journey Alone" by Wendi Nelson is one of them track that can't be picked apart, because it's not supposed to be! However, seen as this is up for review, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to!

The first thing that strikes me is the piano that creaks along at Grandad's pace! It's not particularly challenging, but it sets the mood! However, I would like to hear this develop more as the track goes on! The backing strings and wind noises sound top notch here, especially when the drums kick in!

The drums is the main drawback here for me! They seem totally detached from the rest of the track! If they had a heavy reverb to them, I reckon they would suit the track more! The other drawback for me is that a track of this nature needs to be longer than it actually is! It only lasts for just over 4 minutes... The remaining 30 seconds is silence! Not sure if this is deliberate or a mistake on Wendi's part!

The final verdict? This track is hard to critique, not only cos of the style, but the length of it aswell! The more I hear it, the more I want this to develop into a longer piece! Add a little more variation, sort out the drums, build up the piano more and add a few more FX sounds, and this would be achieveable! Some vocals would be nice too! Pizza Score: Microwavable! Lacks the ingredients and taste that only a larger pizza can provide!
