A long time ago, in a kingdom far, far away lived a princess named Grace. An inquisitive and curious girl by nature she would often while away the long summer days walking through the magical forest near her father’s castle. She would daydream as she ventured, imagining far away places of wonder and intrigue. Grace would sit on a grassy hillock near the base of a waterfall and watch the day pass by in awe of the splendour of nature, surrounding herself with the effervescence of life. The trees, flowers and animals, undisturbed by the tyranny of men were in perfect harmony with one another. Grace filled her lungs with the clean and lightly scented air of the forest when she saw a slight movement in the undergrowth on the other side of the stream…

Wendi Nelson is a talented musician and songwriter who effortlessly combines mood and timbre to evoke memory and emotion.

As I sat down to write a review of Wendi’s tribute to her recently born daughter, Grace-Marie, my mind wandered into the realms of fantasy and fairy tale. This is what the track reminded me of. The carefully layered strings, percussion and harp all sound lovely and perfectly complement the themes that Wendi has constructed. Really, this track would be perfect as part of a soundtrack to a film set in a fantasy world.

A very pleasant listen and a beautiful piece of mood music.
