Full House on the scores and believe me this track truly deserves it. Now i am no expert on Rock my genre's tend to be Dance or Trance but from what i have heard from 'Want versus Need' this has given me a whole new outlook. This track went straight to no 1 on the mp3unsigned charts 'Congrats for that' and hopefully will maintain a high position there for a while as it is in no short of deserving it.
Wake of destruction, as known to mp3unsigned have a very unique sound, and with this track 'Want versus Need' being in the rock genre, i was suprized as what i actually heard because i was expecting maybe the same'ole' rock style most bands go with, but this guy seems to have created a whole new genre of his own 'Synth Rock.'
The intro to the track very much in the style of Robert Palmers 'Addicted To love' but then branches out into Wake of Destruction's unique sound. There's some strong holding lyrics and a great set of vocals voicing them, an 80's style almost retro feel to the music yet with synth work that you would never dream of hearing in a rock track so its got it all for me. The main melody is catchy as hell so you will be singing your lungs out to it soon enough, and production wise you couldn't of asked for a better job.
Commercially at the moment i think this could do extremely well. Its the perfect time for a new kind of rock to be shown to the world now, 'leave those mullets well behind' as this is a taste of something new and it would be very very refreshing to hear.
My only critisism about 'Want Versus Need', it had too much of an abrupt ending. The lyrics where way too powerful to cut the ending like it did and made it almost shameful in doing so, but these things are always fixable, and it would be down to the artist if he felt it sounds fine and would need to be kept how it is, my advise would most certainly make the ending 'fade out' longer not just cut dead, it doesnt suit the track.
That a side [ a very small critisism] this track has it all, and any label/producer, looking for a fresh new look on the 'rock scene' would welcome this track. If they didnt then they would be losing out on a huge opportunity.
Highly Recommended !
