As the opening vocals hit my ears I'm struck by the 'Britishness' of the sound. It conveys to me shades of a Ray Davis (The Kinks) composition wise, which immediately warms me to to it.

The intro is nicely out of kilter and misleads the listener as to it's true intent. As Amy's vocals ride in you are carried off on a wonderful musical sonjourn.  A small crit on my behalf (opinion only)is that the vocals were a little on the bright side mixing wise.  But she has a very strong dynamically listenable voice.

Now what is happening behind those vocals? Well a fair piece of good musicianship is what.  Some wonderfully varied drums keeps everything tight and tasty and a familair B/Line hook that nestles in tight with the piano and the drums.

This allows the guitar to freefall in and out of the melody to great effect.  Lyrically the song is spot on, 'the mask that covers' is something too many of us endure.

After a number of plays my ears started to pick up the 'ghost' vocals near the end and got me to thinking how the song would sound with some harmony vocals on one of the verses. I also picked, up near the end, the keyboard snagging across the guitar line.  Again could that be used during the song as a counter to the guitar to give the song a few more dynamics?.  (Just thoughts whistling through the brain cells).

So in summation.  I enjoyed this very much on a number of levels, the compostion, the lyrics, the general 'feel' of the song and the very engaging performance.

Dawn is a fine songwriter and stamps her unique authority on all of her compositions and this is a cracking piece I'd recommend to anyone.
