As soon as you hit the play button, you very quickly realise that this guy can certainly play the guitar well! As a metal fan during my teens (and still, to a degree), I've come to appreciate a well-played solo! This one last for almost three minutes, and it's this solo that forms the entire basis for the track! While there's no doubt that the solo is both complex and brilliant, some may find it hard to justify an entire track purely made up of "guitar w**king"!
The rest of the track is filled up by a second guitar (which does its job and does it well), bass and drums! In my opinion, the bass and drums are the parts that need major improvement! I know the solo is the centre-piece, but the drums really need more variation (they go into half-tempo towards the end, but that's it), and only the snare and ride cymbals cut through the mix! As for the bass, it clashes with the kick drum, resulting in a low-end that is muffled and lacks power! At the time of writing, I believe this track is not entirely finished, so I really hope these issues are addressed!
Going back to the justification issue, I must concur that I would have liked more than three minutes of guitar solo! Personally, I would have a had a middle section where the track would go into half-tempo with some added gothic-style strings, but obviously that's not the only option Superhuman could explore!
My final summing up? It's a technically impressive track, but it's the mixing and a lack of change throughout that lets it down for me! Here's hoping that Superhuman addresses this!
Pizza Score: Processed cheese, fiery peppers and sparklers! It puts on a good show, but the base ingredient is lacking!
