songwriting - I like the structure of this song, it loses my interest a couple of times for a brief moment, but then pulls me back with an interesting change, the way the drums roll back and forth from on the beat to off is particularly interesting, I hate doing that myself, but it does work in a track like this. I did find however that at the beginning of the track the drums were a little out of place, I think they needed to be a little crazier. But that's just my opinion.
Recording/production - I see where you are going with this production, and it's almost there, and is well mixed, but I don't know what system you are using to record, but it isn't working that well, it sounds like a 4 track recording, well maybe not that bad, but almost. Please don't take that as an insult, it is just an observation. It could use some clarity in tracking and post production, some eq and maybe some soft knee comp., maybe....I'm just guessing here.
Performance - well...not much to be said here, except that this guy is one hell of a guitar player, keeps things interesting by flowing from change to change seemlessly. I haven't heard anything of this style in a while, so I was pleased to have heard it, and even more please to have listened to it.
Unfortunately, tracks like this one don't have a lot of commercial appeal, but fortunately, the artists love this stuff.
Very well done, another gem.
