Let me just say again that Mp3 is full of interesting and very capable artists, and the Reviews that I am doing is just my perspective. There is alot of genres that i know little about, and would never presume to be an authority on. So this is just how I see them So first off with this review. I just descovered Stonedog ( Jon Davis) recently and I must admit I havent heard a bad tune yet, which realy suprises me , cause im fickle when it comes to song writing. This track "Deviant " is amoung one of his finest. In fact its that fine a track I would cover it, and i dont do covers as a rule. The song begins very low and sedate and you think Well this is Ok, and then the backing kicks in and the whole theme makes perfect sense. The song has wonderful sections throughout and kept me well and truly interested. The words are good and the build in the melody and structure are cool. Now if Ive got one major problem with this track, it would be that the singer Jon, doest seem that confident as a vocalist, and god know why cause he can definatly hold a tue better than alot that Ive heard. He reminds me of Scott (Our guitarisrt) when he puts down a vocal idea, he never pushes his voice never lets loose and stays way too much in control. Its almost like he's recording in a room and doesnt want the people next door to hear him. And it just doesnt do justice to such a fine vocal line. Do yourself a favour Jon GIVE IT HEAPS! Your songs rock mate, be proud and be bold. That being said stay true to what you do, just with a bit more gusto. If anyone reads this and goes to listen. Let your imagination run a bit, Visualise this done in a big studio and jon giving the vocals all they deserve. Now if you do that and dont rate this as highly as me then my dicks a kipper.(Dont call me kipper Dick lol) Very Cool , Rockin and great writing, well done Jon. Steve
