Steve Wilson is certainly someone to watch out for and his vocals are outstanding, as I have observed on many of his tracks. The one word which defines every track is passionate and Bleed is no exception. It is sung with such feeling that you really listen to the lyric, which is excellent -- though as always, I will say that it helps to actually post the lyric where the words are the mainstay of a song.
Melodically, this song is let down in my opinion, although the overall music track is well structured. The acoustic guitar acts as the constant and somewhat mono-chord rhythm with no variation whatever and it is left to the gentler tinkle of the piano to provide the musical interest...I'd have liked some kind of relief in a well-placed guitar or piano solo. The one burst of piano at the end was lovely but not enough I felt.
I am new to reviewing and therefore the scores are guided pretty much by the guide given by the site. Overall I would say that this is a song that I'd play in my car, but it would not carry an album alone. Luckily, Steve has many more that can do so.
