I am a little late in getting round to review this Digitial Juggernaut collaboration with mp3unsigned favourites, minus13 TIME and Abeey.
But boy was it worth the wait.
I'm sorry but this tune - for all its experimentation, breakbeat, call it what you want - is 100 per cent commercial in my book.
There's some Mike Skinner-esque rapping, great beats, perfect synth accompianment, and pretty damn nice backing vocals courtesy of Abbey.
It's the rapping that drives this track along - it's pretty relentless stuff - and I'm pleased to report the lyrics are good.
Quite often I find rap lyrics to be cliched but this avoids falling into that trap.
A particularly nice touch is the way Diggital Juggernaut and co break up the track, there's some very tasteful instrumental breaks which hint at taking the song in a different direction before the rapping comes storming back in.
Production is second class, this sounds the real deal to me. As I said earlier this track is hugely commercial. This could break down musical barriers and compete in any chart.
Fantastic stuff - my only quibble is that it's perhaps just a tad too long. I'd have been inclined to tie it all up a bit quicker.
I also think the outro could do with a wee tweek but perhaps that's me just being a bit pedantic.
High recommended and gets my first VIP nomination
