Digital Juggernauts remix of Redshirt Theory's Money Beats definitely accomplishes what Tim set out to do, and that was to make the track sound different than Redshirt's version while keeping the same theme. As a big fan of Redshirt's version I wasn't sure of what to expect becasue it's always tough to put your stamp on someone else's work and make it feel different. I was pleasantly surprised with his work. The intro starts off with a great push and pull feel to it to draw the listener in. Haunting echo effects on the rap samples float over the driving beat and guitar riff very smooth. Al though I'm no production expert, it did feel in time throughout. The drum beat and guitar riff definitely drive this remix into a much more chaotic and intense version without overloading the intent of the original.
The only slight thing I struggled with, and believe me it was a struggle, was there were times when I was starting to just get a little bored with a melody and instrument change when just on the cusp of being bored, he would switch it to another riff. I'm still on the fence with that because that could very well be a great way to keep the listner on edge by continuosly keeping it interesting. I guess that's a matter of taste and everytime I hit that cusp I was pleasantly surprised and started bobbing my head to something new and different. Tim definitely has some nice and dramatic changes throughout. Overall, I give Tim lots of credit by taking such a phenomenal song, making it his own, and keeping it interesting. If I hadn't heard Redshirt's version, I would have never known it was a remix of it. But since I have, I can fully appreciate Tim's interpretations on the song. I definitely would be grooving intensely on the dancefloor to this one. Great job Tim!!!
