Breakbeat - a genre that I'm really just starting to get into. Am I gonna be swayed by the fact that this appeals to my tastes? No, there's no real need. Let me explain: from the very start I could tell that this was gonna be good. The guitar-like sound that opens is excellent, suitably 'funky'. The drums themselves are good and solid, not overly complicated, but doing their job well. The vocals are also a nice touch, adding to the appeal of the track without sounding too cheesey or contrived. The only problem with the lyrics are their simplicity, as, unfortunately, there's not enough of a verse or hook feel to any of them. If this track had a definate hook then it would definately be an improvement
The 1st breakdown is excellent, with the new synth sounds and patterns bringing more fun to the party. I love the way that in the middle it moves away from the funky guitar to the electronic synths, then back to the guitar, then back to the synths - it means that interest levels are kept up throughout. The drums remain a constant throughout, allowing the synths to vary without ruining the groove, an essential in a track like this. All of the synth sounds are great, and I have to admit, I'm mildly jealous of the squelchy lead synth towards the end of the song, both the synth and the melody are class.
Overall, I really did enjoy this track, with the only little niggle
being the lyrics, which I personally feel could've been better. That
said, the delivery of the vocals was good, and the track itself was
quality, so top marks from me!
