Dimension 5 - Sunset Beach (Viva Ibiza Dance Edit)
Tagged as 'Silky house for those hot sunny days & beautiful loved up nights' Dimension 5 promises to be beach clubbing music. I'm expecting soulful uplifting grooves, so lets see what abounds.
Sunset Beach is an appropriately named light-hearted summerfest of chilled housey beats and sounds. The rhythm section is strong but not overpowering. It starts with an extended vocal buildup which eases the first main section in very smoothly indeed. The vocal stabs which follow are more for aesthetic effect than for the lyrics and the overall effect is a cheerful laide back party vibe that would suit almost any occasion where the sun is either shining, or you wish it were.
After the breakdown is continues in a similar manner, with more instrumentation to expand on the vibe.
The productions stand up well, with a crispy, punchy finish, not super-loud-with-kick drum-sidechained like a lot of house but with slightly more gentle dynamics, making this an easy and comfortable listen.
My only real criticism is that the lacks a great deal of depth. The lyrics are repeated often and there is no type of instrument solo or melody which leaves it with a certain polite manufactured finish.
That said, the track 'does exactly what it says on the tin' and would happily play at one of my summer bbqs. Its only 11am but I feel like a cocktail already. Must be time for a spot of sunbathing....
