Ah, sorry for the long wait. I just have been working madly on my new song and got sidetracked by it and almost forgot about the reviews!! lol again, I’m sorry!!
Well how do I start this review? This is the most well known person on the site, Ricky Mancini (otherwise known as MD-1 Project). He dwells in the darker side of electronic music (at least I’d say so). It’s actually what I consider a fusion of some electronic styles (like breakbeat, techno, and dnb). I obviously don’t have to explain what kind of music he makes, because everyone already knows anyways. :-P
I have to congratulate him again for being #1 in the user and official charts and artist of the week at the same time. Takes a lot to accomplish something like that, and it’s very much deserved.
Anyways, let’s get down to the review.
It opens nicely with a clean bass, which is then coupled with a low dirty synth (so Mancini ;)) and of course with the vocal samples and hard beat. I must say, on a personal level, that this is one of my favorite MD-1 Project tracks. I like the bass’s progression. It’s a very uplifting progression and if he added a bit more melody to it, I’d like it more. On the contrary, the beat is perfect for this track. I’ve actually always like Mancini’s rhythmic structures (on beats and synths), which sounds very commercial to me. I can see this track being used in commercials (especially car commercials) and being played in clubs. So that’s where the 10 in commercial appeal comes from.
On the slight downside of things, Mancini gets a 9 on track structure, because I’d like a bit more melody as it could be easily played off of everything going on. I do like the cut up melodic synth played throughout the track. I have to say for this style of music, it’s hard to fault. I know I can’t fault his sound quality, because it’s superb. The lack of melodic structures in this type of music is probably the only I can fault; except that the bass’s rhythmic and melodic structures are what makes this track so great to me.
I have to say that Mancini did a great job with this track and it’s also easy to see how he gets people to his page, not only by helping out other fellow artists by commenting on their music, but with his own music as well.
This review is long overdue and again, I’m sorry for the back up (that counts for Kiopo and Steve as well). Great track Ricky!
Highly recommended!!
