Classical lessons, rock band at 16, jazz at Humber College at 18, on the road with a disco/funk showband at 20, got a real job after two years of that, stopped playing publicly for around 20 years, met Mary Gottschalk in a parking lot (long story), collaborated with her on a few songs, started playing in my local church, turned the offertories into jazz and blues songs, did a CD and played in a couple Worship teams with my son and daughter. I have now retired (again) from public playing, time to leave it to the kids. I prefer jazz, rock, R&B;/funk (Earth, Wind and Fire; Tower of Power; etc.), some classical and whatever else comes up. Salsa music is next on my list.
