Nag-ativity Blues (Collab with Mark Holley and Drainage)
love the song nag-ativity blues great voice raggy fantastic guitar break lets hear mor like this. posted by tonyc blues
Very nice track, great lyrics, has real emotional depth and very well sung, recorded and written. Very strong arrangement. I love the production, very crisp, clean. I also like the title of the tracks, it shows a great amount of thought coupled with the lyrics. This is what real talent is all about. I hope you continue to make great music so that one day we could hear it on the radio.
Wicked! what a collab!!! You've got a fanastic voice raggy!
thats the dogs bollox man..thumbs up
Late as usual - all the best brings out another best! Rock on guys! - Raggy man - if you were in the right place at the right time before now you's probably own half the pacific with that voice, great guitar Heck - who needs "production" when you got talent!? - second thoughts don't quote me on that as I couldn't cope with the volume of retort - well done guys!- jon
Hmm just scrolling through the comments seems like I must have missed this one before..anyway.. here now, and this certainly is a nice blues tune, sort of Chcago style blues, with you growling away there ;-)That's my boy!!! Nice guitar work, and I probably agree about the horns, even thoigh they sound pretty good...always tricky to get a good authentic sound but doesnt detract from what is a fine Blues tune, ..enjoyed it!!!
great little number, comes across as classic blues, piano is esp nice, and of course the vocal performace. having read the comments so far, id have to agree with the horns, sounds good but blues has that deep need to sound authentic instrumentally ... for me anyway. i would soften em to the back of the mix more, that'l do the trick! you sure can stretch those vocal chords dude! some good ol blues to make my day (:
i like this how it stands...sounds live...reminds me of the doors for some reason :D change nowt... other than get a real horns player... for a synth it sounds half decent guys... thats the only change id do.. but not needed to be done... i think it all fits together really well great playing all round top performance thumbs up
I'd say pull the horns out completely in the guitar lead that's 3/4 of the way through the song..... maybe pull the level on thehorns down 10% or maybe 15%... let them take a back seat... since theyre synthetic horns... also might as james said pull them more toward the middle... not all the way though.... I would like to have re-done the horns all together using the SY99 now that i think about it... I've since dialed up some way better horn patches... sigh... still kicks ass though rags!
Hi Raggy, Great great song !!!! Because of the tempo, a feeling of happy/silly comes through...kind of gives it a twist A woman nagging a man to death. Excellent text !!!! Loved the authentic guitar themes and tone !!!! Excellent playing !!!! I do have some suggestions.. The tone on the drums didn't seem bright eneogh...I know you were going for a pub vibe, but I would like to hear the drums brighter... Also, Mark's horns...Either gone or changed to a Hammond sound...I felt it conflicted with the overall vibe... Keep on keepin on !!!!
I swear i commented on this tarck before, i kno i heard it but i guess i didnt! lol Ahwell may as well leave one this time around! Ok liking this track from, the intro! Its got that big ballad bluesy feel to it and it certainly is! Hahah everytime i come to your page and see you picture i always thing im gonna hear singing similar to barry White! lol Sorry if i offended you Raggy but its a compliment really! lol Anyways back to the track, amazing guitar work, especially the sections where your up and down the fret board like your on speed or something! lol What can i say great keys from Mark and usual and not forgeting hans on the drums! Everything you all put into it just sounds kick ass! Anywasy i really actually enjoyed this number, has like a sassy, sexy smoke filed room feel to it! Best of luck with it Raggy, Mark & Hans! Marty
Its still a great bit of blues but gonna be critical this time on the stereo imagery - I think the brass should be more central spaced with some stereo reverb stuff to thicken it out across the speakers. Also I don't hear the organ and drums as forthright as last time dude. Hey maybe its just me?
14 June 2007: BRAND-NEW MIX, HI-REZ mp3 off a 24bit source and high-res WAV-to-mp3 encoding. Grab a download if you want while it's still available (will revert to 16-bit source later)
This sure sounds like it's been taken of a live set in the local blues cafe ! I stil love it !!!
stopped back by rags.... still love this! :-)
Love the guitar licks!!! Ultimate blues all round. Good stuff.
Am I glad I stumbled upon this! Love it. Don't like the brass sound but the rest of the track makes up for it......and some. Oh yes.
Nice job, Raggy and friends! Big, ballsy blues a little reminescent of B.B. King, especially the way you guys put that accompaniment together. Excellent job with the vocals, you've got a great growl, and those chops on guitar are right on for this genre. Well done!
BIG SOUND BIG VOICE what a track!
Back again Raggy. One of those F*** crackers of a track.
thanks for the welcome and link mate, nice blues track my da would love this, GETE
Only five weeks behind with the songs now. This is a nice one. It's virtual magic, the way three different bods on three different continents can now put together a track like this. Magic, I'm tellin' ya!
omg if this is not the blues I dont know what is...gary moore eat your heart out...I alway think of john lee hooker ..taj mahal..big bill bronsy...and the likes when i listen to this sort of music...its uplifting music at its best and deserves the raslas rating well done on a great collab..the mix is perfection.
This is fantastic Raggy, I'd come and see you play anytime! I like all the additions here, drums and keys work well, the horns don't really work for me but it's your style that carries it, superb! Mat.
thanks raggy:) yes at last i am singing the real stuff. your song sounds great as usual, blues and nothing but blues. xx
Damn this is true blues...and i LOVE IT TO DEATH!!! Funny, I was watching/listening to some Gary Moore today and the sound coming from his band, although awesome, was no better than this. Your vox were amazing Raggy but everything was and I got to give it my last nom...gotta gotta gotta!!!
true smoke filled pub, last call, end of the night blues...thanks for comin' out! good work!
bloody brilliant guys - sounds fantastic. Loved it before, want to marry it now :-) Top top top blues!! Martin
You should be in the upcoming King Of Blues competition rather than me... that's way for sure! Great job by all. Has a real live feel to it. Rated!
Thanks Aaron! Raggy is awesome ain't he? and fun to work with too! :-) me likes!
im embarrassed, i havent been by this yet. rag your voice, gutars make me want to shake your hand and buy you a beer. the drums ah yes the fantastic drainage. the organs amazing. please tell me this song gets the num one slot at some point!!!!!!
wow exnt rendition of the blues from you all..a rascals rating is duelly delivered.
Mark: I'm not telling!! HAHAHAHAHHAHA actually, (and this is the SCARY part), I think I can get it sounding better still one I run Hans' drums thru a good module, and I'm going to do something with the MIDI (OK, OK, right now it' all waves but I put them in different layers with each layer having different volumes)......however any changes will only be done if they improve the feel......
Raggy did you stack the midis or did you use the wavs i sent or both? Gotta do more of these!
very nice additions raggy :D the organs sound awesome.... kind of a bluesy doors vibe im getting now :D yup this now sounds complete and sounds very much live :D good work all round guys...the vocals now fit perfect and gives a real cool vibe...
Well now that aint half bad :-) This was way more than fun to do... this thing was a blast! Thanks everyone! AWESOME HANS!
A cracking track boys.Just imagined being at the Casbar Club! Watching this great band LIVE!!rated Andy :)
Wow, what a track! I don't think I had ever made my mind made up for a d/l so quickly as just right now. Fantastic guys! So much energy in here, it's so alive and freeing. Raggy, your voice is simply great, and I'm totally falling for Marks piano and the dialog with the guitar. Well, I certainly hope that the band stays together! :-)
Ta for the DL btw
Wicked additions. love the synth trumpets liked it before I love it now :-)
Oh yes! Your voice really suits this style, Raggy, and the accompaniment is fantastic from the mp3u band. Has an astonishing live feel considering. Brilliant.
Yow! When and where is the live show? Makes me want to behave in not so much a lady-like way!(arrrrr!) Fffffabulous!
Yeah guys crank it up!
You got it dude
................................. (that's me lost for words..lol) and I'm never lost for words! Graham
24 Feb 2007: The songs is now updated with Mark Holley on piano/organ/horns and Drainage (Hans) on drums!! It's a band now, and we've gone for the live-pub feel so expect some wild moments as everybody gets into their thing! Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did doing it :)
i like this one! nice and full on! nice guitar aswell rock on dude! thanks for the comments on my tracks forsaken memory
That is some damn good blues singing... and the guitar makes the whole track. Are those synthetic drums though? and the piano doesn't sound like it is touch sensitive. A real backing band would really kick this track up a notch, but definitely a kickin's blues tune. i'm liking it.
Yeah Blistering blues guitar man!....Fab Sound!...and raw bluesy vocal to go with it! That guitar sure is singing, and sounds like its mic'd up to an amp too! Loved it! Mark
This isn't too bad at all. I'm not keen on the gravelly vocal style used here, but at least you give it everything, which is what singing the Blues is all about.
remarkable voice and the guitar calms the itch in some unknown place of my soul, it has something that makes you forget about troubles ironicously
Cracking guitar and you have a great voice Raggy. Top work.
Fantastic. you've got a great blues voice and the guitar sounds awesome. (thanks for commenting on my song step back)
wicked vocals raggy...i love the blues and i love this !:o) Howsie

Great, great authentic blues man! Great, flawless playing and the vox are so BB! Please take a dog-died, gal-left-me, car's-crashed, momma's-in-prison rate my man!

Let's see the lyrics blues man. Cool bit o blues. Personally I think it could do with a pub/club type atmos adding to it; ahh good lead stuff man. Great vocals dude. Rated of course. If it's not going on yer album you might permit me to have a fiddle with it - let me know!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoyed immensely
Sounds like BB king that's a compliment BTW. I would love to see you playing in a dingy smoky club somewhere. Yeah sounds a bit rough but it works for me. I hate overproduced blues. Cheers!
some dirty blues :) other than the guitar tone this is pretty dam dirty :) ive heard many races sing the blues but never an Malaysian guy :)i hope that doesn't come across as racist :S far from it.. nice dirty blues.......on a constructive point the guitar tone needed some delay thumbs up
My Album- Maybe Some Day - is now for sale! Check it out in the Store. Living in a part of the world where expressivity in music is confined to limited categories, and most musicians just playing cover versions, I have a burning desire to break out and do something that says I can be me.
I love all sorts of music, and my songs represent whatever I feel best expresses a particular idea. Call me crazy, but I'll do anything from Country to the Blues.....the only limitations are my own limitations as a musician, but as I keep improving... :)
First time i've ever heard Raggy and I'm impressed. This track follows an interesting linear journey that varies from a lush pentatonic bed to and fro with an eastern minor feel mixed with some jazz for good measure. All of this coupled with an airy synth for backing and some cool south east asian drums make this is very unusual mix that works nicely. Reading the comm
