THE BEGINNING.... J'Wan began singing at the age of 3, and writing songs and poetry at the age of 5. By her teens she was performing around the DMV with all-girl bands Diamond is Forever, Genuine, and Royalty. After having her daughter Jessica, she took time away from music to concentrate on being a mom. But not happy with the 9 to 5 scene, she formed JYMstone Entertainment in 2004 with her cousins Zsa Zsa, Amber, Tara and Rickia. In 2008 she released "The Official R&B Mixtape Volume I" and her first commercial album "What Could It Be" which features R&B, pop and Spoken Word styles. The album features a production team from Prince George's County, Maryland called BASSHEADS. The title track from "What Could it Be" is still a heavily requested song two years later.
THE PRESENT In 2010, J'Wan released "The Official R&B Mixtape Volume II" and is currently writing and recording new songs for a new mixtape which will drop in December and an album which is set for release in 2011. You can catch her performing on the DMV club scene. Her passion doesn't end with music, however. J'Wan is a poet who has published a poetry book Words of Love and Life: An Emotional Journey, and a short novel called Invisible. By 2010's end, she plans to publish a new book - a sensual thriller called Desire, Seduction & Secrets. Check out her online store at http://stores.lulu.com/KandiGyrl808
THE FUTURE J'Wan plans to continue singing, as well as writing music, poetry and books. She will also be working with other known producers and writers in the industry. She also has many other ventures on the horizon including more books, and plays. Remember the name - J'Wan is destined to do big things!
Wait no longer... It's coming April 29, 2008! The Official R&B; Mixtape featuring J'WAN! Check www.myspace.com/jwan808 for details.
