Bad Man!!
I love this feel-good music. Good beat, catchy tune and great musicianship. I just wish those great vocals were further forward in the mix.
Los Angeles, CA – Norwegian singer/songwriter Christian Wegne has announced a pairing up with Los Angeles’ premier A&R firm, A&R Select. It’s a perfect partnering, bringing together Wegne’s distinctive, quirky but accessible amalgam of pop styles and A&R Select’s formidable influence in the entertainment industry. Wegne’s music is not easily categorized. Thanks to his songwriting prowess, his sometimes startling combination of genres and influences comes off not as a patchwork of disparate influences but as a seamless melting pot of audio surprises. Wegne builds his music on a template of laid back country, freely mixing in pop flavors and even hints of danceable pop. Even the country template is a pattern of diversity itself. Merging traditional elements – such as folk and bluegrass and straight-up country meeting more contemporary crossover ideas – the beginning basis for Wegne’s songwriting sets the stage for the subtle but effective infusion of other genres. (And as if that wasn’t enough, Wegne even does some work creating hip-hop instrumentals!) His eclecticism is solidified into smooth, streamlined craftsmanship on such songs as “Paul,” “Sweet Jane” and “When I Get Back Home.” It makes sense that variety (all appearing under the singular umbrella of Wegne’s inimitable style, present on every tune) is a hallmark of his music, given the rainbow of emotions he feels – and projects to the audience – in his work. “Music can make me glad, angry, dream, think or ready for a party,” he says. Naturally, his influences are also far and wide. Nature plays an important part in supplying his artistic energy. Family, the trials of life, even God are all powers behind his music, even if they’re not on-the-surface evident in his songs. And there are more songs to come as he builds his repertoire. “I have many ideas that I’m working on. I get ideas just from sitting and playing – or I can just wake up with an idea. So I have no problems coming up with ideas and songs.” It’s all building toward the selection of tunes to make their way onto his debut CD. But no rush, for now, writing fills his time. And recording, as well. “I will hopefully record many songs this winter. I have a studio at my home here in Norway.” It’s there that his songs come to life. Wegne writes and performs all his material. When he’s not writing, he’s busy (or maybe that’s not the right word) revitalizing his batteries in serene settings. “I live deep in the forest with nature all around me. I have found peace of mind here, as I have been through a lot of bad things in my life,” he says. Not that you’d know it from his beautiful, emotive music. “This is my lifestyle and I love it. I believe that makes my music strong.” More information is available by visiting HYPERLINK "http://www.myspace.com/wegne" www.myspace.com/wegne and www.....lect.com.
