Annemarie was born in the Netherlands of a musical family. She grew up on the tropical island of Aruba. After her return to Europe she spent much time in Ireland and England where she performed, singing folk music, playing the guitar and the bodhrán (Irish drum). Having mastered the bodhrán she taught this instrument along with song, to children and adults in a local music school in Avonmouth, near Bristol.Annemarie has regularly performed in the Netherlands from the city of Groningen in the north to the village of Geertruidenberg down in the south. Well known in Groningen, she is closely affiliated with the Irish traditional music bar O'Ceallaigh in the city center. Annemarie also occasionally works together with folkband Rapalje. Every year on St. Patrick's day, an Irish national holiday in honour of Saint Patrick, Annemarie presents a special program for American tourists, often of Celtic descent, in clubs and restaurants on Aruba. She regularly toures Switzerland, singing for the talented Swiss folk band Kesh. The most recent development is that Annemarie has been accepted into the Frysland based Dutch folk band Fling as their singer, flautist and percussionist. Of her first cd 'Take Seconds II', many copies have been sold at performances and a second cd 'Take her in your arms' has been finished very recently.
