SAN TOY are a Modern Electro Alternative band formed in Glasgow in 2003. They released their debut album on Chique records and built up a large fan base on the live circuit in Glasgow and beyond. After a 2 year hiatus they reformed in 2012 as a three piece live band. Their earlier Ambient Dub sound has evolved from its Reggae roots to a newer electronic sound incorporating Dubstep, Drum and Bass and Chillout. In fact this is a band who are very hard to pigeonhole as they mix their eclectic tastes to create something with its own original stamp. The band embody the true essence of life in the City of Glasgow and reflect the city’s dark, energising, stimulating and diverse culture with its capacity to surprise. The band members are JD on guitar/programming, Pat on bass and Mark on drums. All hailing from the streets of Govan they aim to expose the rigors of life in a violent, paranoid city but also to show the beauty of its tall buildings, rain soaked darkness, street life and creative energy. Think Oscar Marzaroli, The Blue Nile, Peter McDougal, Scheme, and Glasvegas and you get the picture of the quintessential Glasgow and this is what San Toy deliver to their listeners.
