Born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, Jamie Branch know by all as the "Candy Lady" began her long road into music over 12 years ago. She grew up mostly in Rockford, periodically moving back and forth to Chicago,Il. until age 16. Her major interests included Art. She loved to draw and paint with acrylics, and airbrush designs that she drew. She soon became interested in other aspects of life, moving from art, to poetry, to a hip-hop dance group. (The Ladies) for three years. She then began exploring her vocals in a singing group, (Serority), which didn't pan out very well, due to other members of the group. Almost immediately, C-Le' went back to her "poetry--in-da-hood". She gave it that nick-name simply because that is where she recited her poetry--to hip-hop and rap music. She became popular with her style back in 1997. She would stand out on the "block" with all the homies in the hood who would make circles and take turns rhyming. It took about a month to build her courage up to "enter the 360" and spit her "Flo-cals", but when she did,
The Girl Spit--FIRE! Soon afterward, she began challenging all the guys in the area in "Freestyle Flows" -- and she was winning! That motivated her to "Take it to the Stage!" Her first appearance, three months later, landed her with an Independant Record Label in Chicago, Illinois, hence, beginning the Rein of the Lady.

After Three years with this label as an Artist, nothing much became of it, so, The Candy Lady went off to educate herself in "The Game." Doing lots of research, in libraries, driving to other cities to check out the Local competition. That's how you stay up on your game.(Spoken by "The Lady".) She also met another female lyricist while in Chicago, whom she became realy good friends with. They made a few songs together, then decided to form a "Tag-Team". The two of them became well known in their respective hoods as "the Rudi-Tude". Two Hot Female Lyricists, both with Vemomous Rhymes--The Candy Lady and Cookie-Dee! Both are now solo, independant artists, but still come together from time to time to go to the clubs and shut-em down. Now, out on her own, The Candy Lady decided to shorten the name, creating the acronym: C-Le', and she's out to get her piece of the pie! |
