Black Ether  (NewAge)
Highly structured ethereal ambience bordering on tribal with rock, new age & world influences

Aja's Song (NewAge)

Artist Comments
Huddled in a corner, sheltered by the darkness, believing himself hidden from life’s travails. But light penetrates even here on the wings of the song that gives him life. The boy who became a man only to become a boy again reached for the outstretched hands of the beckoning seraphim. And as finger touched finger, darkness was consumed by the promise he had forgotten in his quest for redemption. “Home is where your song lies” words spoken so softly they seemed more an unconscious thought than actual words. And with that Aja looked upon the face he knew so well, a knowing smile playing on his face as he took one last look at the world he was finally leaving behind. Peace and Oneness. Jay – Black Ether

Born of a concept that music should be felt as much as heard, Black Ether has been captivating listeners since 2001 with emotive down tempo electronic music. Like tendrils of long forgotten dreams, Black Ether moves people in ways very few artists can, simultaneously touching on the human and spiritual conditions with a force that can be as soft as a feather, or like a sledge hammer to the brain. Reminiscent of acts like Delerium, Deep Forest and VAST, Black Ether has managed, however, to blaze its own sonic trail with a distinctiveness that speaks Black Ether. Ethereal ambience, haunting melodies, tribal drums, sensuous and peaceful vocals, soaring guitars and keyboard solos and a healthy dose of creativity culminates in a sound that is timeless, emotive, and extraordinarily mind blowing.
The term new age conjures images of Yanni and John Tesh. Dont let that image fool you. Black Ether is a very different expression, tribal and gothic at its core, BE's music is almost impossible to categorize while appealing to a wide spectrum of listeners. Or as Jay Rivera, the mind behind BE puts it "The BE sound is really more than just a crossing of genres and periods of time, but also one that is intended to portray emotion, sort of a canvas upon which we paint our self potrait. The music is also full of symbolism, the distinctiveness of the sound is intended and represents a long journey from the violence of the brooklyn streets to a spiritual awakening and an acceptance of self. It all means something, the ethnic and industrial drums, the monks, the strings and ethereal pads, the guitars, the deep bass lines....all of it has a purpose beyond the music itself. Thus the music is infused with the very core of my soul and becomes a living, breathing entity." Or as one listener put it: I truly believe that music shall give us hope...nothing more nothing less....it shall paint pictures of new worlds beyond the horizon, it's the vehicle to transport us to those places and each time we return to the world of ours a little less of us comes back with us ...because an ever growing part of our emotions and intellect longs and stays in that dreamworld which hopefully in due time becomes the only true reality. This is a true description of the music Black Ether makes!
