Matthew Jordan, hailing from Colorado, began his music career five years ago. Since, his unique blend of sound has percolated throughout Colorado. Fans characterize his music style as a cross between Atmosphere and a hip-hop version of Coldplay.
Now 22 years old, Jordan completed his first studio album, "The Tragic Comedy EP.” It contains deeply personal and introspective works. with subjects ranging from God and past girlfriends to unearthing his hurt from his dead-beat dad, and battling his fears and dreams of success. Musically, each track uniquely blends genres outside of hip-hop, including: rock, blues, and contemporary.
Jordan’s style continuously carries a serious tone accompanied by an underlying smirk. He wittingly sums up his album to perfection, when he says," I write love songs but they come out wrong", in the song titled, "Your Song."
Jordan writes, produces, arranges, and records his music solely by himself; an extremely impressive feat for a self taught musician, who learned to play piano by repeating pop music melodies by ear. It's apparent that Jordan expects to raise the bar of Colorado's hip-hop music scene.Yet rapper is a label Jordan would rather avoid." I'm something different, but I still want to be pretentious and womanize, you know (he laughs)... but that's why I use my real name. I'm telling my truth whether people love it or hate it."
Matthew Jordan's third album, "More Issues than Tissues" was released on March 21st. To purchase e-mail the above link.
