Jonathan Jude Darby “This artist has played more dive bars than he cares to remember, been paid less than a homeless beggar in the gutter, been spat on and shat on and still loves what he does… let’s investigate and find out what exactly is wrong with this man!” Artist Name: Jonathan Jude Darby Location: New York/Dublin Ireland/Currently polishing some stuff in Miami. Discography: 2001: St. Marks Electric Choir EP, Guitar Vox 2005: General Release Self Titled EP Genre: Folk-Rock/Alt. ....ry. Influences: Neil Young/Shack/Stones/Tom Petty/The Pogues/Kings of Leon Oasis/U2/Creedence Clearwater Revival/Johnny Cash/The Doors. Drunken Nights/Smoke/Guinness/Whiskey/life after death/Pain/Current Affairs. Darby mixes up all the world has lost: Electric Guitar licks like CCR, a Cash like voice and strong words, his latest outing though, is more folksy and friendly, more roots than rage. “Come Down” is dangerously close to pop-folk but contemporary in it’s production it’s a happy go lucky number about an apology. “Said I Need You” although this number has a mellow swing to it, it’s dark.. very dark “six feet under, with the worms crawling through our skin” you get the picture, the backing band provide a beautiful backdrop with funeral type organ, it was decided to leave the mix in it’s rough from.. you’ll notice towards the end. “Big Blue Bus” Apparently written about the Santa Monica Blue Bus, this tracks got great riffs and a foot stompin’ beat, it’s nicely lo-fi too and here Darby’s voice reminds of J. Cash.. hell the country feel is very evident on this number. Produced by Stuart Lawn (St. Marks Electric Choir, PrepH, Her Little Orchestra, Shack)
