I played the bass during the eighties and did one album for Sony with a Latin Jazz band. I have played at Ronnie Scotts in London twice, The Royal Albert Hall,The London Club circuit, The British College circuit, Glastonbury, WOMAD, and I have toured Austria, Germany, Japan, Spain, France. These days I write songs in Spanish and I record them in my home studio with the Venezuelan singer Ricardo Castillo. These songs were written and recorded in Manchester U.K. during 2002 / 3. All the music and lyrics were written by myself. I hope you enjoy them. Peace, Garcito
Perla Negra is not a band as such, rather a recording/ writing project. The songs are about places that I have visited around the world like Cuba, Mexico, Dominican republic etc. and also where I now live in Rural Andalucia. I also have some instrumental ambient funk that I'm proud of which would be suitable for sountracks.
Perla Negra Lists the following Influences
Candido Fabre, Jose Manual,Celina Gonzales, Ignacio Pinero, Polo Montanez, Orishas. Most Cuban son and salsa artists, Clave Y Guaguanco, Alfredo Rodrigues. Away from the latin thing I have to say that Marcus Miller has probably influenced me more than any other musician.
