Born in Scotland in 1981, Colin Masters has music coursing through his veins. The son of an opera singer, grandson of a folk singer and percussionist he took to music at a very early age and has since allowed many different styles and influences shape the way he makes his music today. As a child he turned his hand to guitar although his real passion was always percussion and he spent 9 months in Edinburgh learning various styles of drumming and musical theory.
Colin's older brother Chris first introduced him to the sounds of hardcore, happy hardcore and the early makings of trance and house when he was 13, and when he first began putting together tapes of all his favorite material, you could expect anything from The KLF to Bass Generator. Each tune would be carefully chosen and arranged exactly to his liking, a handy skill which has stayed with him throughout the years. When Colin (eventually) bought Chris's Technics off him at 16, He had finally found the perfect way to create the atmosphere that up until then he had been unable to do simply with tapes and CD's

His method of entangling the genres whilst DJ'ing, moving easily from one to the next and the diversity of his sets has proved a very popular combination and he has become well known throughout Newry and Glasgow. With a progressive style, his sets contain hints of breakbeat, electro, house and tech house, often culminating in main room stompin prog, or tough edged but "touchy feely" techno. It can be a relentless journey that’s always a pleasure and never a chore. |
