All You Miss
Offering a "f*ck you" to the predictable preconception that "girls can’t play guitars", AllYouMiss are not your stereotypical female rock-cliché. It would be all too simple to take the well trodden path of lazily tagging the band with the same label as Hole, Babes In Toyland and Kittie, solely for the fact of gender, but in reality the music does not justify such formulaic categorization. “Fusing metal and grunge as if the genres were lovers” as it was put by one reviewer, the band’s sound takes the intensity of hard-core titans AtTheDriveIn combined with the pop sensibilities of Nirvana and heaviness of AliceInChains and blends it with unique vocal melodies and harmonies that make for something that’s fresh and exciting, but knows its roots. This distinctive caustic rock/punk/grunge - hybrid has so far seen AllYouMiss billed alongside the best of the British underground, including the mighty Queen Adreena, Serafin, ElectricSoftParade and Reuben to name a few, and building up a wide and diverse fanbase around the south of the UK. Under previous moniker of “Caliber”, the ep “someday now” was released before the band had even hit 6th form, gaining an enthusiastic reception from the press, and receiving airplay from Xfm and Passion Radio, in addition to the band having appearances on tv channel 6tv and being name-checked by The Independent. Now, with the addition of new drummer Caroline and many more gigs under their belt, AllYouMiss have honed their intense performance and distinctive song-writing skills to form an incendiary live show, which should really not be blindly overlooked. So yes, possibly some girls can’t play guitars, but certainly not this lot.
