Emma, the following screen appeared when trying to access your artist page:

A license is required to play this file

The file you are trying to play was ripped (copied) from an audio CD.

During the ripping process, the file was "protected." This limits the number of computers on which the file can be played.

To play the file on this computer, you must download a license (a process known as "license migration"). A license acts an electronic key that allows you to "unlock" a protected file and play it.

To download a license for this file, click Download License.

< id=fm>< id=btnSubmit =DownloadLic() = value="Download License">

Notes:

Microsoft keeps track of the number of license migrations that have been performed for this content. Microsoft does not collect any contact information (such as your name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address) to perform the migration. For more information about the information that is sent to Microsoft, see the Privacy Statement.

For more information about protected files and license migration, see the Windows Media Player FAQ page.

Did you use Windows Media Player to create the MP3, and assign some form of license protection to it?

My advice would be to use something other than Media Player to convert your tracks to MP3.

I'm not a big Media Player user, and am unsure how to remove the 'protection' clause from the conversion process. I can try and find out though if nobody else can give you a quick answer. But it's probably the poorest option available for audio conversion, there are many better programmes available.

Take a trip to this website:

www.dbpoweramp.com

and download the free music converter.

It's brilliant! I can't praise it enough, and will rip tracks from audio CDs easily, and convert them to any format you like...or you can simply right click on an audio file in Windows Explorer and convert it to MP3...or any other format.

Welcome Emma

To overcome the problem of microsoft's digital rights management license you should make sure you go into Tools/Options/Copy Music and make sure the 'copy protect music' is not checked. If this doesn't work then download one of the freeware encoders from HERE and start all over again ;o)

ps - the new windows longhorn plans to extend the DRM to ALL software...I feel a new privacy argument coming on!

Longhorn...as in Big Prick!...as in Bill Gates!

I for one will not be switching to this so-called 'operating system'.

Julala...how did you manage to play the track? I was unable to get past the security screen.
