Elo people ..

Well I finally nailed down a collab that has been sitting on me hard drive for a while..

My co perpetrator in this is my old friend Deggsy ..   He sent me the song a while back and I've kept coming back to it a bit at a time and finally have got our 1st cut done..

I say this is the 1st cut 'cause Deggsy wants to have a rethink on the music..  so that both it and the vox sit better..

Although saying that this ain't half bad in my opinion.. and definitely gives a better than fair idea of Deggsy superb musical abilities..

So if you could leave us an opinion or two it would be appreciated.

Sometimes

Many thanks

Rob

Hi Rogue,

Thanx for your comments and vote m8, i personally think the music could do with a little improvement, there is summit missing i think, after the vocals have been added, just needs something at the 3:14 mark..... (The vocals) not too sure what you mean about the mastering on the vocals ???

I'm glad you couldn't find any faults in the musicBut it needs attention me thinks,i think Rob has done superb on the vocals as always.... CHEERS BUDDI

Thanx again my friend

Deggsy

Been there, done that.  Really fine music, Deggsy.  And always a thumbs up for Rob.

Just from a listener's perspective, I found the music and the vocals to be in competition somewhat (in terms of levels, which was in the foreground).

Hope that's helpful  (not like I'm a qualified critic or anything...)

Valerie

Hi Valerie ..

1st off loads of thanks for the comment input ..

Myself and Deggsy had a discussion about the the general sound of the song and he asked me to send the vox onto him so he can rework the music..

As I said at the top this is a 1st cut and is just to give the public an idea on how the song sounds..

Rework will be coming fairly soon..

Once again thanks for the comments from both you and Rogue ..

Rob

Well done you two.

You are getting mellow on me Rob rofl!!!! But this is vocally/lyrically complex in a way that compliments your Slippy-T material very nicely indeed, and the chorus is catchy in the extreme.

Now the piano and orchestral work really hits the spot. I assume that this is your field Deggsy? You have created a fairly slow burning thing here that builds in layers of complexity. I feel that there is a very pleasing sense of 'balance' to the entire piece that goes beyond the constraints of a 'collab'.....in other words it does not sound like a meeting of two minds with differing styles, but rather a well developed whole - as if you two have been working together for a  lengthy period, and know each other's strengths and weaknesses inside and out. The musical mood, though commercial in structure interacts naturally and organically with Rob's voice, and the production/post production shines through on many levels.

Rob: I don't know if you would be interested in putting 'Third Normal Form' on the Collaborative Incendiaries' page m8?

It was in many ways one of the first C.I. projects, and it's obviously dated now - we have both moved on and refined our talents since. However it perhaps had a certain raw charm? and I've also done my best to remaster it recently from the MP3, along with all the tracks from 'The First Is Ace, The Rest are Pants'.

If you want the track please let me know, I could email it to you. If you would prefer this one to be kept as a 'back catalogue' piece though (which may very well be the case) I will fully  understand.

Just rated and commented.  A doozy of a first cut.
