No matter what, every new song that I have made, i have been able to
semi compete. And then the computer acts up and prevents me from gon
further.
And yet again, I am working on finalizing this new song, and the
computer is acting funny. I know I am using a lot of my RAM, but it hadn't
ever done this before.
Basically, I have to have the latency all the way up to 500 (its max), and
still, I can not click play without hearing extreme break ups and
problems. And all this happened after my husband had gotten on the
computer and changed display drivers and deleted the windows driver.
None of it makes sense, but have not been able to edit or add to the song
well, as I cannot hear what the heck I am listening to. SO I am guessing a
little.

And then I noticed that the audio was sounding very flat. And some of the
effects didn't sound right. I couldn't figure it out, but all of a sudden I did
not like the song at all, as it sounded horrible.
Well, I ended up trying several things and then just shutting the computer
down.
Then I decided to check my headphones. AND THERE IT WAS.
Somebody (probably my son) had flipped a switch on my headphones
from stereo to MONO!
So I am sure that was the problem there!

Rofl!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was reading your post, and thinking 'reset sound settings to
factory', 'latency' 'Audio hardware acceleration settings' 'midi clock
sync settings', 'update drivers'...etc. etc.
Seems my techy head can safely remain in the bucket with tonights Fillet de Trout Veronique after all

It seems to have been related somehow to the ATI card. Don't know why.
Once we switched back to it (although it had overheated at one time and
gotten damaged so which is why was had to switch it out), the card seems
to work fine-and so does Cubase.
Wierd, I know. But I am now having just the normal problems (slow
processor and using a lot of RAM). So everything seems back to normal.
Although I don't know how long I will be able to keep that ATI card in
without the card having problems again, but at least, for now, I am able
to work on my song.
