That's the men's chorus I'm in here at FSU (Florida State University).  I got a recording of our fall concert about a week ago and uploaded it a few days, and I thought I should put up a thread for anyone who'd like to divulge into some music about insects.   Really, our concert was insect themed.  In my opinion the best songs are the Gregorian Chant (with Dr. Corzine on organ) and The Flea, which is by far one of the most difficult pieces I've yet to sing in a choir (it's difficult both tonally AND metrically).  This is probably one of the best examples of placing dissonance such as minor 2nds (especially minor 2nds lol) in music.

Anyways, it's on the music section of my website, but here's the link to the music section already here.

Let me know what you think of the songs(the organ at the end of the Gregorian Chant is what makes it for me).

And yes, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy...we were too excited from everything else and we sped up causing us to go off tempo for a few seconds, but then back again.  Not to mention, the 2nd tenors (that's including me in the section ugh) were horribly off when we had our own section in the same song song with the la's (you'll hear it).  That's really the only song we had problems with for some reason.

that was completely delightful mr mikey - I'm listening to The Sleigh right now - Sugar Plum Fairy was a hoot....now the Mosquito song..."husky young mosquitoes" brilliant lyrics...this is a blast thanks so much for sharing it with us

wish you had video of it cause the audience is clearly having fun at some visual they are seeing...can hear them chuckling after the mosquito song and just before and during the Fly song ...."buzzing along" and then the final swat

No problem Mel!!

Oh and our conductor was conducting us with a fly swatter for the Last Fly of Summer, and he began tapping it on the stand (which is that tapping noise before the song starts).  And yeah, I love the lyrics for all of these songs.  (and it's "buzzing alone" but that works too hehe)

Glad you like the performance.  The Mosquito Song was performed by a smaller selected group within the Men's Chorus, which is why you heard such a tone difference.
