In the year or two that I have been away from here, when I have popped in I have seen that you are usually in the charts somewhere... now I have a little time to listen I stopped here to see why ;-) and I do see why.. great music, well performed.. really enjoyed listening and I certainly will be back for more.
Wow! This is different, and so very cool indeed. You could have produced a song like this in so many ways, and the way you produced it is very unique. Love the intro, and all the instruments in this just fall right into place. Love the way this turned out, and I for one would love to hear more songs like this. Great job and always keep the faith!
Firstly thanks for all your comments on our tracks, they are greatly appreciated. Wish we had more time to comment, never seems to be enough time with all the projects we've got going on. This is a really beautiful piece, piano and cello always a wonderful combination. Vocal harmonies are excellent as ever and the whole song is haunting and wistful. Lovely stuff. Great Opening Piano, kind of Haunting and the Cello works well ... The Vocals work great , work to be done i think you said ..... look fwd to the finished song , its going to be another Alive Class Act .... Degs
Some very powerful lyrics James.Makes me feel melancholy. I't almost seems as though you are speaking to yourself in the past from the future? I might be misreading or misunderstanding but If so it's a very cool slant to the story. Really enjoyed. Best, Eric
Loving that cello against your vocals James, very classy!!! Now that piano is sweet and tickled perfectely!! Now this just opens out into bliss!! Vocals, lyrics and music fuse together and fit like a glove in hand!! Original and bloomin marveous!!! Merry Christmas James!! Baz
Very pleasant listen! Giving it another.....thumbs up!
You might have a couple of issues with the vocal at the beginning but hey what a cracking song. The production is superb. The rest of your vocal is rich and spot on.You guys are Masters of your craft.Well done. Absolutely loved it. Rated,Paul. Merry Christmas Guys.
Don't recall hearing this one before. It's quite alot different to what I'm used to hearing from you guys. I hear a few tuning issues? probably just me. Doesn't spoil it tho. Probably will grow on me over multi listens. Happy Xmas guys. Peace,Ricky
Awesome vocal and I love the complexity of the musical elements. Atmospheric and quite a spiritual feel. Love Wednesday x
Cool mix of genres with this one. Has some opera sensibility as well as pop/singer/songwriter style. Nice vocal and production as usual! Nice job. Thumbs
This makes me feel many things that make me feel good.
This is part of something, its kind of operatic in its approach, if Townsend hadn't lost the musical plot, i could imagine this is the path he could have gone down. Any thoughts of a rock opera James? Child, through to old age, interesting concept. Quite brilliant anyway. Gibbo
Nice moody stuff here! I like it! Great music too.
Me likey...i remember the vocals but the music is very different. Nice and laid back. Has a gental progressive motion now. Lovely. Mal.
A brave chilling tale of self perception over time... Grows and cleverishly sinks into the listeners soul as we all question our mortality
This is a very cool tune. The slow build was a lesson in patience for me - I could feel it building, and I just rode it out and enjoyed where I was taken. Great music and vocals/background vocals! You guys are such good musicians, I am always impressed by your work.
Hi James, Anthony, Grant and Andrew! This is great, I like the way you have constructed this song, which has an expansive forward movement to it, starting with the soft piano then you bring in the other instrumentation really well! I like your vocal work, and the lyrics are interesting, reflective, philosophical, and haunting! Cheers (Merry Christmas!) Andrew
I loved this from the time I heard it in some early versions....like this re-visioning...OK..I hear a few note deflections, but to me, these a passing moments of musical tension, perhaps, and in the grand scheme of this extremely creative and tastefully managed song....these are very minor...to my ears anyway...the strength is the movement through the ideas in the lyrics and the corresponding instrumentation ...gentle cymbal washes, piano touches...string lines...and the vocals...a lot of drama after 3 m....loved that. Very creative! Thumbs guys...so tastefully arranged.
Love the new direction guys with the instrumentation and your vocals James are great, although a little forward in the track. I can understand what Andy is saying and the slight dis-chord has probably arisen as you were singing to a different backing before that was in D major. However, lovely song with beautiful lyrics and deserves our vote. Merry Christmas guys..
It works perfect James! That's the beauty of music -there are no rules! Loved it! -Mike
Love the piano intro then what went wrong dudes? Maybe my ears are shot (everything else is LOL) but aren't you playing a D minor on piano but singing an F# when your vocal comes in. I'm sure the three commenters below would have said this so I'm gonna cut-off my comments for now until someone or something knocks sense into me.
Spectacular James! I remember the other version and this is much more melow but still outstanding! The vocal shines as always and I really like the subtle instrumentation leaving the vocal out front! The harmonies are second to none and those soft ivories pivot well with the melody. Top shelf work! -Mike
What a Beautiful song...drifting along in such a melancholy mood...building, building and building...then falling away! A great vocal rendition conveys the sentiment perfectly. Excellent. keith
Terrific song you guys. The build is the deal for me. The lyrics are so wonderfully introspective, the floating piano carries it along and that geetar, one of your signatures, is perfect. Great start to my day...
