WICKER MAN (with Scott Slater)
I like the guitar that's being played throughout this tune. I don't know the movie, but the lyrics are cool. You are a machine - cranking out great tunes one after the other - amazing!
Hi James, Grant, the band and of course Scott. Forgot to say it earlier on this week but a massive well done to you all on making No.2. Another fantastic collaboration from you guys and the harmonies are brilliant. PJ
Wonderful vocal and harmony. Excellent guitar and lyrical content. You guys compliment each other so well...nice, nice nice stuff!
It's amazing to hear a song inspired by "The Wicker Man"? Wow, that's an mind blowing film if ever there was one! Anyhow, I really like the production on this, you have real character in the vocals, which adds to it greatly, well done! I love the end too!
Thanks for your comments Chris - glad to hear you are getting back into music - look forward to hearing new work from you.
Hi Alive, you were kind enougth to leave feedback on my track, so had a listen to yours. I have to say, your production is a million miles away from mine!! I have posted a few tracks from my yesteryears, not done a lot since early 00's. Getting back into it now!.. But yours is just awesome.. i love Wicker Man.. very strange at parts, but great at the same time. Hope you do well with this!
I like the original film but don't care for the stupid Nicholas Cage version. The song is a tough listen but the songwriting is good and James's vocal about being "inside your wicker man" is a good little chorus section. Why is it a tough listen? - no subtlety in the mix - I can hear everything but like ricky says there's plenty of sections where the instruments are fighting each other. I'd also add that the basic guitar riff probably needs to be dryer and eq'd differently to "fit" better. The bass and kick are also too compressed for the rest/style of the music. OK just opinions but maybe ya can do summat about it? Thumzup on the writing, song-construction, melodies, instrument-playing, stereo-image and vocals.
Really cool indeed! Avery well written song that is beautiful and haunting as well. Love everything about this one. From the tile on down this is great. Sounds like an experiment that went very well. Great job on this and thanks for the review on our newest song. Keep the faith and bye bye!
Really great song guys, I love it. I absolutely love the harmonies.
Oh this is nice you guys, really enjoyed this, Thanks for the DL. Vin.
A wonderful reprise of a great collab team. Scott's vocals and added instrumentation fill this track out nicely. A haunting melody in the guitar and the vocals. Nice contrasting voices verse/chorus; Slater/Bell adds some depth and interest, I think. Guitar riffs, bass, rhythm, drums...I think work well for you on this track. Nice touches...the count in and the film track to conclude. Kudos gentlemen! Thumbs!
Very nice spooky guitar riff in the backing that sets the scene perfectly and of course Scott´s vocal is the icing on the cake. Well done guys - another great track from you.R
Loved the film since I sneakily watched it as a nipper - I am now a mummer and have donned the hobby horse on occasion so you might say it's shaped my life somewhat! Great idea to use it in this way - the lyrical imagery is potent. Superb coda too. 11 out of 10.
not an easy one to grab on too... not sure why ... seems like everything is fighting for it's own space.... probably gonna take a few listens...I remember watching that fcuked up movie LOL the original with Edward Woodward & the later version with Mr Cage... I'll be back lol peace,Ricky
Cool Track and great collaboration, not over-familiar with the film and story, remember a fire at the end.. but the track is really super, Scott has a great ear for a melody and compliment your style here, Fab!
Well done to Alive and Scott Slater. Fantastic track. It's .(Wick)ed . lol. This will probably make sense to nobody but me , but I feel like the song has great shape and form.it's difficult to choose one thing in particular that I like as there's just so much happening throughout.Brilliant harmonies , You've done yourselves proud guys.Rated.Paul.
Thanks so much for the really kind words/positive feedback on the new song, So What If I . This song of your here is great as usual.!!! Really enjoyed this. Thumbs up
Hi James, Grant and everyone in this great band, It's great that you have teamed up with Scott Slater again as you worked so well together on Paradise. This is different to that and has some kind of strange elements but who cares you both are great and the chorus is amazing. Love the harmonies too. Well done guys. Another sure fire hit. PJ
Got another hit (on here at least anyway) on ya hands. Nicely put together. Balance of vocals is perfect and rhythm guitar sits so nice in the mix. Well done.
Two Class Acts rolled into One , what more could ask for , love the melody and gtr riffs , catchy to my ears , the Drumsare a bit low , Maybe need bringing fwd a touch , Strange ending , must be from the movie i guess ....... Well Done Guys great Collab ...Thumbz
Fantastic collaboration you guys! Nothing better than to hear outstanding artist working together and this song is proof of that. The background vocals "here I am" is a standout point in my ears. This is just what I needed to start my Monday -Good music
