WARPED formed two years ago, after the current line up kicked about a bit on the local pub circuit under various names and aliases. Lee Wylding, Jo Lawrence, Richie Jones and Johnny C set out to fill the gap that the other bands failed to fill. Mixing gliding up tempo melodies with a lyrical style that’s reminiscent of the Manics, Warped believe that they brand of no-nonsense power pop will reach the parts, the ballad-boys cant.Warped were being hotly received as one of the best local acts in the Runcorn/Widnes/Liverpool area. Many gigs soon followed in Manchester, Liverpool and support slots in Lancashire universities with Action Spectacular and slots on local radio helped Warped gain a reputation of a band that shows no sign of stopping. Lee Wylding sees himself as a rapidly maturing songsmith, taking influences from Matchbox 20, The Chilli Peppers and The Manic Street Preachers though Some people criticized the band for not being 'dangerous' enough, but in answer to this they say "we're radio friendly, and with friends like that who needs enemies!
