''Longing Trip Hop beats melt into guitar and electronics collages, themselves fleshed out by curvaceous backdrops that soar and swerve between frozen wide-screen dramatics' (Mark Barton)
Greenhaus, established in 1999, with early 12" releases on Beggars Banquet and Kickin Records, "were" considered a techno outfit.
Nowadays the band couldn't be further removed from that genre. Over the last few years and with many live gigs and tours behind them (including supports with Gary Numan, De/Vision, Jon Foxx and Mesh) the band have recorded and released 2 albums. Another Life (2004) has been described as 'best suited for those into lunar and dreamy moods' , 'space rock with electro grooves' and 'an album that really announced Greenhaus' arrival as a major player in the modern music scene'.
The previous album - The Unmistakable Sound of Sloth (2002) described as 'the offspring between ambient and wave' and an 'essential album that will cater to a wide range of musical tastes'.
The band have evolved into a mature 5 piece, incorporating Steve Bellamy on guitar, keyboards and electronics, Jon Williams on guitar, Clark Denham on bass guitar with Susana Vicario on keyboards. Vocals are provided by Phoenix J, although guesting singers do appear every now and again including Lahannya and Anthony Neale. Phoenix has really stamped her name on the future releases. Her beautifully crafted melodies and tone lend to the overall offering being described as 'almost therapeutic' and likened to Massive Attack and The Cocteux Twins.
The band are currently in the studio recording their next album 'You're Not Alone' which is due for release in the late Summer/Early Autumn of 2005. It is also planned for a 4 track EP to be released prior to this. The new album is to introduce live string and woodwind arrangements , along with live drums on some of the tracks. 'You're Not Alone' continues, and takes much further, the chill out themes of 'Another Life'.
