In the spring of 2000, Rannoch and Randon Purcell left their homes, family, friends, and a large fan base in Salt Lake City, Utah with the hope of re-inventing their music. The brothers decided on Los Angeles, California as their starting ground. The next two years were spent studying various musical styles and techniques, working on new music, and formulating a direction for their work. After heavy experimentation, the brothers found their starting point and the music began to fall into place. In 2002 the new project was dubbed Adom9 – “Adom,” a Latin word meaning “with the gods,” and “9” marking the number of years the brothers had been writing music together. By the end of 2002 Adom9 had begun a series of Internet music releases. Tracks such as “Blind” and “I Wonder” quickly caught the attention of people from all over the world. In 2003 Adom9 began work on Missa de deux frères or “mass of two brothers”. This project is a newly composed, 4-8 voice choral Mass written in the traditional Latin form and set to a combination of electronica and orchestral music. Amy Recinos, a professional vocalist and friend of the brothers, was recruited to the Adom9 team as work on the mass moved forward, and two years later the project was finished along with a full album of Adom9 songs. The band’s debut album Deluge was released in 2005, and consists of two discs containing all of Adom9’s music to date, including Missa de deux frères. The music of Deluge is very diverse, ranging from fast, break-beat and electronica, to edgy alternative, to moving ballads. Such diversity and creativity is what lies at the heart of Adom9, and is what truly sets their music apart. Musically and lyrically, Adom9 is a true exploration of life, the world, and the boundaries of imagination. Open your ears and your mind and prepare for a musical journey that you will never forget… For I…dreamed of the blue. I saw a star upon the loneliest of oceans…Me and the blue, and my star…on every horizon
