I've had a long affiar with the blues for a long time so I always enjoy hearing other artists take on it.
This offering comes courtesy of Craig aka Pidgeman. A song written, according to the blurb, when he was the tender age of 17. Now at the ripe old age of 33 he decided that the dust covers needed to be lifted off of this musical tome and given a fresh airing.
The first thing that is apparent is that he knows which end to hold the guitar fretboard as you are treated to some nifty guitar noodling. The metre of the song is spot on for the genre.
Craig applies his vocal talent just as well as he hits all the bluesy notes on the guitar. His tone reminds me of Joe Walsh and that is definitely no bad thing in my book.
The general structure of the song is well worked and the production is clean and full of depth. The instrument placement in the track works reasonably well although the rhthym/melody line guitar was a little too hard panned to the left (that's just a personal opinion). Apart from that it all sits tight.
If I had one crit it would be only that the verses were a little long (again only my opinion) and maybe a bridge in there somewhere would break it up a bit.
That having been said this is an enjoyable excursion into the genre and is well worth 5 minutes of anyones listening time.
