As I have said previously, this is certainly not my Genre but I know what I like and I defo liked this from Tim (Aka Digital Juggernaut.)
The addition of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech was inspired and really keeps the listener interested.I actually watched the original speech on TV in the 60s ( yup I AM that old!) and Trance was not a word which was associated with music generally, so to see these two elements brought together is eerie.
The main theme is a good one and it is the main artery of the track which bleeds energy and power!Tim has dressed it up with some excellent synths and pads. A lot of work has gone into this, of that I am sure.
The opening sequence really pulls you into the track with anticipation. The 'snippets' of Dr King dotted here and there, makes you eagerly await as to what is next in store. At 1.34 we are introduced to a strange synth sounding like a metal prong being plucked and was pleasing to the ear as I thought we were being taken on to another level.I felt this could have been developed more as it disappeared as quick as it arrived and was never heard again.I may have upped an Octave with it as the track begins to build nicely and it may have added more intrigue, as it was a little disjointed in my opinion and lacked direction. The crescendo arrives at 2.25 when the main speech is revealed.
Tim gave the listener the impact the speech deserved and the mood was handled very effectively. At 3.06 the main artery is opened up again and this brillaint collection of seamless samples carries the track onward and upwards.4.03 Dr King returns and the background to the vocals is handled well as they don't drown out the speech which if it did then the mood would be lost. This blend is continued to 5 .08 when the original melody returns.
The sequence from around the 6 minute mark onwards was a little disappointing as I felt the track fizzled out like a damp squid. All that had gone before was perfect but the "I have a dream" was overused and I kept waiting for a variant which did not arrive.I may have returned to the opening pad/synth to remind the listener from whence they came. The percussion seemed out of place here. But hey! what do I know? My ignorance of trance may be evident here but I thoroughly enjoyed this from Tim and suggest you grab a listen as you won't be disappointed.
