My maiden review … and the “lucky” recipient is D-Lux featuring Nemesiz.  Although D-Lux has always been a friendly face around the boards, I haven’t listened to any of his material before now, so I’m pleased to have the opportunity.

Listening to the track, the music is cool and there’s an inspired use of the synth riff in from the Eurythmic’s Who’s That Girl which works a treat.  At 2.46 the track is quite short and certainly doesn’t outstay its welcome.

I gather D-Lux is quite new to rapping – I thought he did pretty well.  The delivery could probably use a little more drive or, dare I say it, aggression.  The flow is good overall, though I felt there are a few places where it needs a little more polish. Nemesiz’s delivery is much more like how it should be done, to my ears, and added a lot more menace to things.

The percussion was well panned and the music has a nice heavy swagger about it.  The vocals sat about right in the mix well too, though there were times when I detected a slight overload in the sound levels, particularly with Nemesiz’s vocals during the chorus.

I’m not really a fan of hip-hop but there are some great hooks in FDX Soldiers and I found it catchy and likeable.  I was quite surprised to find out D-Lux is 15!  If he keeps this up he’ll be scarily good in time.  Good work by everyone involved.
