The mega trio, known as the Pancake Eating Freaks!! founded the land of pancakes in the late months of the year 2003. The original line up consisted of two members at this time, Tom Spooner and Kyle Fenton. They had both started learning instruments, Tom taking the axe and Kyle went straight for the kit. After a short period they learnt their first song together, Blink 182’s All the Small Things. There were two other members at one point, one was a lead singer, the other a bassist but in the end they were banished from the world of pancakes by the founders. By about April 2004 the Freaks!! were in desperate need of a bassist and luckily for them Kyle’s younger brother Aaron had just started learning the bass( after swiping his old man’s instrument) and was picking it up fast. After a few practice sessions Tom and Kyle decided that he was the only man with the right attitude for the job. They spent many months learning lots of covers, then discovered they could write their own material, so was born their first song “ My Bad ” this was a micky take of Heavy Metal. The ideas started to flow and they found they could write alternative punk quite naturally and so “ Get a Life, I’m not Sorry and Fat Waster were created. The pancake world had music. In the later months of 2005 they discovered the sound they were after and “ Get the Girl “ and “ I Need you Here “ defined that sound. The new songs were another step in the evolution of the Freaks!! Soon the songs were coming out in a more spontaneous way through jamming, the vocals were starting to take on a more important role with both Tom and Aaron succeeding with different harmonies. The Freaks!! are now gigging all over and are slowly but surely building up a reputation for their jumpy punk sound. The Freaks!! have sold more than 100 copies of their first EP “ Get a Life “ solely on word of mouth and are now looking for as many kids as possible to listen to their music.
