big big production what a great collab
Love this song... You have "Beatles" sound...Lennon sound...love it! Adam...
I hadn't heard this for a while. Gosh, 3 years just zipped by, huh! I remember this tune very well... Now with Josephs additions ~ just like the match that lit the candle on top of the cake! ;) Love it!
thanks folks... surely appreciated :-)
Hi, Amazingly powerful track...sorry didn't get to it sooner! Absolutely wickedly haunting guitar sound throughout ...wow...it's memorable (I'm jealous!). I really like the message too. Great collab guys! Rated. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
Another quality prod! I still want to collab!! Resonant Tones, Call me bro!
If you were playing in my local i would pay a fiver to get in! Great stuff, i love the guitars!
well done to all very nice listen and clear and clean production
Much better production, and some nice little touches from Joseph. Sounding good! Mark
thanks Ricky and James... coming from production experts like yourselves... I appreciate that... and listen when you guys suggest stuff!
more cool stuff guys...nice additions mark...they just keep getting better...like said below a couple tweaks here and there and you got a very cool song :) thumbs up
Neat song Mark. Never heard the original. It's got an Oasis style to the opening vox line - wonderwall it reminds me of. Take arate dude
Gday Mark, again I will comment on your lyrics as being brill.A great overall sound comes through and a fine example of world wide collabs that should make any doubters disappear into thin air.Well done by all involved and heading to the rate button!
Good song. Some of the levels could be tweaked, vox down, lead guitar up (I'm a guitar fan) but well arranged track. The backing vox and lead vox seem to clash now and then on the chorus to me but not a big problem. Nice playing all round. rated. Craig
Vocal a bit loud for my taste to be honest, but the rest of it sounds great. Great guitar playing by Joseph. Really good track, easy to listen to. Have a rate.
I remember this one Mark. Yes, Joseph's guitar playing certainly adds depth and atmosphere to your track. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Can I rate this again?! I'll try! Sonya Stewart
Three in a row, all better than the last, very much agree with Dawn's organic comment, each addition seems to make the song better in some way, tip top production job, very much enjoy how Joseph has slotted so perfectly into the mix without going over the top, just very subtle adornments here and there. Very much a treat for me as well, well done (again lol) Rated
How Have I Missed this, What a treat. Great Song! Thanks Vin.
I am not surprised you got Joseoh in on the act too...LOL...talk about an organic mix...this one grows like a tree...it'll have fruit hanging off the branches time you're done with it. It's wonderful ...guess what I thought as soon as it started, having forgotten it again since UI last commented...."Oasis are back"
Can't believe this has been up since July and I bloody well missed it. Still, as I tend to say often nowadays: Better late than never! A really top track! DaveRave - 13 October 2006 That long ago? Still a cracking collab
Well constructed, lyrics well written, and a good collaboration all round that works. Perfect production. For these reasons I rate it. Sonya Stewart.
Great track and absolutely superb feel! Crisp and a thoroughly fab listen. Thanks!
I lowered the overall DB level per suggestion form Ricky after showing me the clipping it was getting.... thanks Rick... should be betters now! thanks all for the comments suggestions and praise... :-)
Not familiar with the origional track Mark, but I have this hitting me pretty loud on my main speakers and it's sounding pretty damn fine to me, there's a good energy to this track and three 'Mp3 unsigned' legends, it doesn't get much better than this mate, great collab from you three :) keep them coming. Paul
contrary to some comments i think the productin quality is really big, everythings crisp and clear to my ears. i think the live drums really add to the track. great lyrics, again delivered clearly. some tasty guit work in there aswel. good job guys!
Cool tune, never heard the original, but likes this version alot. Nice and laid back.
K Moby you inspired me to re-mix this... i think this might be a better version :-)
harsh, but accurate and true moby :-) thanks for an honest opinion... i realize i should hop back into this one and get more from it :-)
whoa man, the intro sounds like incubus's drive and the verse melody reminds me of wonderwall. im sure thats not deliberate ;) the choral melody is pretty decent, the vocals could use a little more compression in places and the harmony vox tend to fall away by the end. the lead part is mixed a little too loud throughout the song and the performance is inconsistent. it also clashes with the choral melody in places, which Im sure is not what you want from a pop song. i like the overall premise of the song, and with a little tweaking of the performances and mixing, could become a really good track.
Yeah this still soundsa great,,,,just checking in, and saying hi,,,,wanted to hear this again,,,,timeless song Mark!....A pleasure to be part of it:)
this site is a resivor of untapped talent,so many great tracks so little time, this is powerful thats all i can say, cheers mate for the welcome and comments,il try and listen 2 more of you stuff when i have the time,
WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED WITH THIS WONDERFUL COLLAB!!! NICE JOB ALL AROUND...GOOD 2 C U AGAIN HOLLEY! CHEERS, KID~
OOO i so wish i could play a sax... I have an alto sax, but alas... i can make deaf people cringe with it, lol... thanks though Raggy.. appreciated!
I'm still on me hangover mode, mate, but so what (hahahahaha i mean *hic*) 2 things strike me,mate, fisrstly this is a damn good song and secondly those guitar-ish licks that are going on throughout the song....well to me it sounds like it's asking for a sax to do those exact same licks, yeah I kno I'm a wierd dude, but to me the song is screaming for the sax. *hic* i may feel different tomorro, though!
Hey Mark, great track mate, with a fantastic live feel; some nifty guitar workgoing on there too. I'll be back for more for sure... good to have finally got here ;-)
Hey Bro, nice track. I like the sound of your voice. Great pipes. Kick back sound. Keep on rockin and take a rating and recommendation on my page. PS thanks for your kind words and by the way Demons and Wizards was the very tour I shared with them. Dan E. Peck
thanks so much!
This is a great collab. Very cool groove. Awesome production as well. Thanks for lettimg me listen Mark!! Rated!!
Hi Mark. This sounds like It's been completely reworked. sounds a lot rockier than I remember it. should have downloaded the original to compare. The vocals are working better with the addition of the backing vocals However they do sound a little inconfident there are a few flat notes in the guitar solo too. Production wise, Does sound amazingly live which is quite a good thing. Cheers Mog
thanks you man!
Nice raw sound to this recording - but not too raw as to turn off a mainstream listener. Lovely live feel to the piece helps it flow along. All performances on this shine through nicely, I'm mightily impressed. Rated.
Can't believe this has been up since July and I bloody well missed it. Still, as I tend to say often nowadays: Better late than never! A really top track!
back for another listen mark...great track
Definatly nice track you three created. Love those guitarsolo's. Good vocalwork. Cool production. Rated!
thanks alan!!!!! appreciate that! and thanks you Laura!
Really enjoyable track. Very nice musical touches throughout.
Congrates on official charts!!!
THanks everyone! If you pinpoint what it is Clive that's not working for you, let me know will ya... I respect everyone's thoughts and opinions....
I think your voice on this is fecking ace! Brilliant song, brilliant sound amd mix - proper thumbs!
It almost touches the esges of Oasis in its feel .. Lovin the live type feel from this.. One --- derful
I'm actually not sure about this one, will give it a few more listens, perhaps it's the mood I'm in - Clive ;)
Congratulations Mr. Holley, Alexander & Mulders! #7 in the charts this week! Awesome song and collab! Way to go!
Oh... wow... Thank you all for coming by! and thanks for the comments! We appreciate it... I really love what Hans has done for this... he just knew exactly what i had in mind... shows his professionalism... and of course I always love what Mark does on my tracks... I really need to move to Europe and start a band... I think I'd like it there ;-)
Love the guitar on this track, and drums are amazing! V.Cool! Loving your work Mark! gets my rating!! well structured and great chorus! Jennifer xx
Can't think of a better message than that! I'm loving positive music nowadays. Didn't hear this originally but liking this updated version anyway! Nice beat, feel, parts. Would have laid off the reverb on the rythmn guitar a bit, but it does let the bass come out nicely (good one Mark). Well done guys!
This is cool. Laid back feel which suits the message behinf the song, gotta agrre that the additions of the drums and the backibg vocals have taken this to a new level, and i do like what mark has done with the bass (an often overlooked part of a track) Well done mark and the others. Steve
wow this has improved 10 folds :) gr8 backing vocals and the drums feel the spot just right yeah you get my vote thumbs up guys quality stuff
I must say before I even start on the song your page is looking awesome with your graphics m8...if that dont seel you I know nothing about anything...lol...on to the song...drums are awesome ...very very professional...vocals clear music clear..marks backing really balances out your vocal and adds that doubled up beefiness i love on a vocal ..im rating this for sure...
"A mind-sticker!" Guess I had to listen to it again! :)
Mark you never fail to impress, go on don't be shy turn your vocals up a bit, they are really good, Kaesmel
Hey, not bad without ever having seen eachother huh ?
Having another listen just for fun. Great stuff mates!
Thank you Sir!!! we appreciate that!
First time listening to your music Mark and this track is great! Nice jazzy sound on the guit and love the tone. Very catchy chorus, ncie edge to your vocals, production is stellar and great work by your collaborators! r8
Thanks everyone.... I really glad I followed the suggestions made on this cut... i listen to everyone's critique! Mark
Nice track Mark !!! Voc reminds me of Tom Petty and John Lennon.Thick and suttle.Bass was cool and drums were in the pocket.Your voc is the center to this song. Leaves me singin your melodies !! Good song !!! Bob Brannan
Hey Mark, definite improvement on the previous 2 versions - but at the end of the day its comes down to the fact this is such a good song. Top notch! Martin
Thanky folks.... Apprecitate the follow up listens and comments folks!!
quality!!! vocals are wicked, and the music is just class! def a rate
Oh Mark...this goes on getting better and better. Nothing like a real drum kit is there? Vox were alreadyb improved last time I heard it, but it's great to have the backing harmonies and everything all coming together. Really good sound now!! I feel like I been here since before this baby was born...can I be godmother?
A great track guys! Quality all around, loving it! Drums sound great, is that the BFD? Full monty from me!
real nice guys, came back for a second listen, erally like the vocals here, nice drums, quality work!
great sound. vocals are good drum is sweet. my boss just asked "who is that, sounds good". so thats an outsiders opinion. so thats good enough for a rate from me. drums sound tightly wound
Hi Mark, Mark and Hans! Great song! Something about your songwriting Mark - Rather a gift when the listener can relate lyrically. You always impress me with your songwriting skills and performance! Another catchy hook! Mark Alexander has once again added some nice vocals and bass! You both seem to really work together well! Hans has also done wonderful adding his drums too! Like a puzzle-all the pieces seem to fit! Once again, I leave - Impressed! (and the song in my head!) -rated- :) Carol Sue
Could be phil... actually good news here on this track!!!! Mark Alexander is now doing the backing vox and HANS is going to have a go at REAL DRUMS!!!! I'm excited!
Really nice tune man. I havent heard the earlier versions of it, so i couldnt tell you anything as far as the improvements.. but tis nice now. I think on the mix i would probably raise the backing vox a tad and spread them out a bit more.. but that could be the crapola speaks i got at work... phil 2charlie
top rated!
Gallagher what is BVS? and I think you're right on the EQ on the vox... couple of spots they glare a bit... all these excellent comments I'm looking into on my next mix session... plus Marks vocals will change the mix should we use those... great constructive input by everyone... thank you
Still a cracking song!I really like this! Definitely sounding better than when I last listened. I would make 2 changes: 1) would be to darken the lead vocal sound - you sing it well but it sounds quite bright at times so it almost buzzes in my ear(might be my rubbish headphones tho) and 2)raise the volume of the BVS a tad. There's my opinion for what it's worth :-) Martin
All good constructive comments guys... still working this one... heh, Mog i wouldn't know what to do with a brush, lol... as these are all midi drums played directly in off a yamaha S30 keyboard, but I hear ya... actually when i mute the drums all together it still holds its own rhythmically. and your right envy, still trying to get a grip on a couple of places that are slightly out of sync... I'll eventually get it ;-) The next version will probably have Mark Alexander doing a vocal take on it for comparison and will promise to be much different vocally as Mark is ultra clean and has excellent sustain to his voice where mine is a more gruff growly approach... whichever one everyone thinks fits will be what we go with and what goes on the CD... I'll be leaving it up to the people... All comments and suggestions are taken in consideration definately folks, and we appreciate it greatly...
Hi Mark, You've def tweaked this since I last listened. Sounding more polished and balanced. The drums are a lot more pleasing (I still would love to hear this with brushes thought lol) It's quite interesting to hear you developing this track too. I'm looking forward to hearing the next installment.
Hi Mark!..well this ones sounding alot more polished since i heard it last!...Great vocal take man!...nice harmonies too. All round nicely produced and mixed! Mark
Nice track. Needs a tweak on the harmony and not sure on the drums - there's a couple of places where they don't seem to flow as easily as the the rest of the music. Definately a strong lead vocal melody though, which I really like :-)
Thank You me Lady!
really like the lyrics, it's sounds like it'd be really great live, it's really easy listening very well done all round, i like the guitar work too, great track abeey x
Hey thanks Aaron!
i unfortunatly cant remember the previous versions. i do like this one, i see i nominated it so i must of liked it. maybe its the new harmonies but this is sounding really great, almost like a new song. reading through i see this song has taaken many lives. this is great. love the song description.already rated so cant add anything there....if there are further versions pm me.
thanks everyone!
you never cease 2 amaze me my man! this is lyrically brilliant! the guitars are slammin'! you got something good going here my friend, pm me when it's all done. very nice feel to it...The Kid
yeah this is sounding gr8 mark nice gritty vocals wicked bline. i read my commets first time and its still sounding full. love the harmonies id give thumbs but cant so love will have 2 do this time round :)
Hi Mark, Sounding better all the time! Wonderfully performed! :)
yeah this is better Mark...you sound like you knew where you were going this time. Have you heard Juri's latest vocal on SC....the latest song, Love and Understanding has his vox double-tracked and boy what a difference...its padded his vocal out. I am wondering if the same treatment works for you. Give it a listen and see what u think.
Hey thanks Andy for stopping by... you are either up really late or really early mate! Heh, this is my very very rare lead guitar, lol, done on acoustic, and it is capo'd up so I'm not good enough with the fret board to really know where i was... so I had to feel it out for a while to figure out a part... thanks Andy very much! Mark
A great crisp sounding track Mark(s).Well up to your usual standard. You keep churning them out man!Better and better they get.Great guitar work here. Take care Andy :)
OK Vocals re-done, and harmonies added... adjusted the mix to be less harsh hopefully... thanks everyone for the support!
Thanks again Dawn! Yeah those are still the scratch vox - not by any means the real ones... I'm waiting on a version from Mark and I'm going to do a real take maybe tonite, when I'm working on yours in fact... Thanks for taking the time Dawn, appreciate it!
Again, a tentaive vocal Mark. I think you need a shot of self-confidence in your vox mate. Different Shade of Blues is just a million times more confident from you and shows that you certainly have a great voice when you are up. I look forward to hearing Mark A's rendition of this one of course -- he has a voice of honey. Still, I think you're earlier version of this sounded much more confident -- maybe because you knew no one was gonna get to hear it LOL. I still say the beginning sounds like Oasis...I'd forgotten until I heard it again. Anyway, I am sure you got another hit on your hands when you are done fiddling with it.
Thanks so much... Mark Alexander really adds alot to my music... his feel for stuff is extrordinary... He's going to give the vocals a shot and we'll decide which is better for the song... I'll post it again later when all changes are made and its suedo-mastered THanks all
very cool track, you are really good, rated
Yeah like this Mark, nice feel to this, and good melody and nice instrumentation, vocals etc are all good. I would perhaps agree a little on the drums, but it doesn't really detract from a solid overall performance and production for me. Nice one! Gets r from me. Well done!
Thanks deShawn, I appreciate that... you're up late too i see... cheers for late night music production! Mark
I can't believe I missed this one...gotta disagree with MOG; the drums are in sync with the other instrumentation. It flows quite nicely. The structure is good, nice production. ratedx, The Kid
Hmmm.... now that's an interesting thought... will consider that!
A nice little tune. I think the drums are a little busy personally I would keep them really simple for this song. would sound really nice with brushes may be. Nice summer sound.
bass line and song structure are impressive. congrats on artist of the week. accept my ratings and last nomination!
thanks very much... looking forward to finishing this one too ;-) Mark
Hi Mark! You are such a talented man indeed! What a great subject for the contest of treasured possessions! Can't wait to hear any additions Mark Alexander may add. Already a great song as is but adding more can only get better and better! Love this Mark! -rated- :) Carol Sue
nice feel to this song. Like the bass line and the song structure. It will certainly polish up really well I think. Good stuff, Martin
Thanks Laura ;-)
Very cool indeed! I can see this will be another great track from you. Genius! lol
Thanks guys!! Yeah I've got a gritty/gravelly type vocal thats works sometimes if it's in my limited range, ehe... not sure yet if i'll do this or mark will... Thanks for the comments guys
Enjoyed listening to this Mark, I like your voice man, just above gritty (i mean that in a good way), works well with the track, look forward to hearing the finished track. Regards: Fatal X 8 ~ Aka ~ Destri
exnt guitar sound mark cant wait too hear it with all the extra stuff going in but im rating it now as its pro sounding for me in its present state...well done.
Ah... will do Tacx... drum mix will be the first thing i work on... Alexander will be re-doing the bass so that will be all new!!! We might just share the lyrical quest here, lol... Thanks Tacx and Mark... we'll get to passing files back and forth once you get your card bro! Mark
Great song Mark,,,superb writing man!...Excellent progressions, and great melody. This will be one of your best tracks i think when its finished. A strong show of songwriting! VERY well done! Mark
Nice little number - Love the lyrics, great songwritting in my opinion. Enjoyed all but one thing. The drums, the Kick drum needs to be more prominant, and the bass could do with a little boosting - Superb sounds though, that guitar sounds tight
thanks... yeah the vox are just a scratch track to determine whether Mark Alexander or myself should sing it... and yup the drums are right off the Yamy S-30... 1 drm trk with bass and snare and 1 with brass and toms... Hans, anytime you have a desire to put drums on something of mine just for the heck off it please contact me... i heard your tracks on the M. Alexnader tune... very nice!!! Thanks guys Mark
This sounds very crystal clear ( and you know I like that !). I like the very short delay on the vocals, it gives it a very spatial ambiance. Singing is not always completely in tune (sometimes a bit insecure and then when you find the right note you become more convinced... you can sing so don't be insecure !). Drums sounds are probably coming right of that yamaha he ;) Good song, Good production.
cool track mark and for a work in progress it sounds very full :) really cool vocals nice guitar :) thumbs up from me m8 will deffo keep checkin to see were it goes in the next mix :D

Last night, after a break of a few weeks I spent some time in the chatroom at Mixposure during Mike-K's Saturday Night Rocks radio show. If you don't know about it, you really should check it out; always full of some very familiar names. Ok so there I was hanging out and a Joseph Rodriguez track came on, then the man himself came into the chatroom which got me to thinking... I first met Joseph
well i put a listen into this song and as i liked it, i found quite a few problems with the mix in general.I found the drums got muffled quite a few times throughout the song(where the BGV`s were). The vocals were extremely centered through the whole song & and as i read in another review i found the vocals were a bit shaky or winey (seemed like very little confidence in vocal ability). The lo
If you have been reading these reviews for any length of time the name Mark Holley will be well known to you. An MP3 Unsigned based singer/songwriter/producer, I've reviewed lots of his tracks, and many of the endless collaborations he's into. Such as this one, as it happens. The last Mark Holley track I reviewed was Wonder Why (May 2008) which also featured guitarist Joseph Rodr
I've known of Mark Holley, an MP3 Unsigned based songwriter for a couple of years but, sad to say, I haven't heard anything new from him for a while. Most of the tracks I have reviewed, I haven't particularly liked the style but there is no denying that the man knows what he is doing, and that ultimately if you like a good song, tastefully delivered then he can by relied on to supply that.&n
Onto my fourth review for this batch (or second if you don't count the two that got deleted due to recent hacking probs), and after recovering from an inner ear infection, I move onto yet another collab between Mark Holley, Mark Alexander (who I've reviewed before) and Joseph Rodriguez (who I've reviewed earlier on this batch)! As Mark Holley has said in the song info, this has done thr
First and foremost I am a guitarist but I did learn to play piano at an early age so I can appreciate the keymanship on this track whic emulates amazingly realistic guitar sounds. The track has a big 80's style rhythm guitar that grounds things to the beat - very cool and retro. On top of this Mark Holley quickly asserts himwself as a virtuoso with a keyuboard solo along the line of Drea
Reanna Smile (finalmix) by Mark Holley I’m going to start this review by telling you, dear reader, a bit more about myself. The reasons for this will become clear as the review progresses. I married for the first time when I was 20 years old and my first wife was 19. We ran a fish and chip shop in Richmond Surrey for many years and, when I was 26, we decided to start a family. My
First off, Mark is one of the nicest guys I've met on the site and has always been willing to give more then he receives. He's a very well rounded musician who plays multiple instruments in multple bands. Now, I haven't listened to Mark's entire library, but have sampled a few (I will get to that Mark). Most are well played and solidly wri
Out of the myriad of Mark's over at MP3 Unsigned I seem to have agthered the acquaintance of a couple, one of which is the Mark Holley we have before us right now. 2006 was peppered with fine tracks from this artist gaining him a string of recommended's from yours truly, even though - being honest - I haven't heard anything from this artist yet that really set me alight. Mind you, ther
Regular readers will know that the hitherto unknown territory of Norman, Oklahoma now contains a person we have all come to know - at least if you are a regular at MP3 Unsigned. I've probably reviewed Mark more often in a collaborative guise than on his own, but hey there's nowt wrong with a bit of mingling. Although a bit rough around the edges both of his collaborations with Mark Ale
I first heard this in back in August and it received a lot of constructive comments which Mark took on board. He worked tirelessly it seems to edge towards perfection. The addition of Hans' (Drainage) drumming gives it a great 'live' feel to it. Also the introduction of Mark Alexander's backing vocals just seems to add to the professionalism. A combination of some class acts here on MP3 unsig
Reviewing Mark Holley these days is pretty much reviewing the other Mark too - Mark Alexander to be precise - because he has ALL the vocal duties on this track. Both Mark's are, of course, MP3 Unsigned artists who have had a good many reviews from me, the bulk of them being relatively favourable. Considering my usual crabbiness towards singer/songwriters (as they both are) that's not b
Well, here I go again…apologizing for taking so long to do this review. However, Mr. Holley assured me that he still wanted me to do the aforementioned promised review…so here we go. The artist(s) this go round are Mark Holley and Mark Alexander. The song that Mark H. asked me to review is “Blinded By The Blues”. This is the first time for me to encounter Mark Holley and my
Today’s review is mark Holley Blinded (By the Blues) with Mark Alexander. First off congrats on making aotw J very much deserved And congrats on making the official charts, pretty good week for you mate lets see if I can make it any better J Before I even played this track I knew it was going to be something worth playing. I don’t think you can go wrong with mark Alexander’s vo
I ended my last review of MP3 Unsigned's Mark Holley by calling myself a opinionated, perfectionist knobhead - which as most readers will know is a fairly accurate description. The reason I covered myself in such glory was that although I liked what Mark was doing from a professional attitude (good performances, good production values), as a listener I was left wanting. It wasn't that
Maniac Melodic chorus! Right well I said I would review a track and I was on the verge of doing Tim EP’s very very good untitled track but seen as this is a rock song I thought I could do this more justice. And then I must admit I heard the first minute or so and I was going to hang fire. BUT THEN – that chorus! Christ that took me by the seat of me pants and rose me on
There seems to be a preponderance of Mark's on MP3 Unsigned and here's a track featuring two of them. Mark Alexander should be a name some of you will recognise because I've reviewed at least a couple of his tracks already and he's quite visible on the site. Mark Holley, on the other hand, is a new name to me. A 'keyboardist/guitarist/writer' from Oooooklahoma Oklahoma Oklahoma s
