Jazz it Up
That was a totally stock Washburn Mercury II Mark... a relic, but under rated axe.
Great track Kelly. Really enjoyed. Great vibe all round. Rated in first three or four bars... you could have played nothing after and i'd still stand behind the rate. Would have preferred a little less guitar fx after the 3mins20 but i guess it settles down again! Yeah it was just the big swirly guit i didn't like. Well done dude
I dont know if its been pointed out, but this song is only rendered at 56 kb and it still sounds good. I hope you have a higher resolution available. I hear some keys, did you play those too? Great guitar work my friend. this was an easy rate, hell ill throw a nom in too.
that is a nice sound and tone... which guitar did yu use... real smooth... the sustain is perfect for this... killer backing track to work with too! i like it!
Forgot to mention the funky section and harmonied bits after 3:45 - very unjazzy, more like Vai from the Passion and Warfare days - got those lovely pinches in again (or were they natural harmonics?). PM me how you got that effect, wouldnt mind adding it to my own stash!
Hey Kelly, you sound like a jazz player on this one with a lot of practice at the genre. Don't know why you pulled this track back when you did - it's very good. Lovely playing, nice backing too. Lovely feel to the lead work - nice and laid back, the distorted pinhes at the 1:40 mark were a nice touch. Even though it was a dodgy axe you got a nice tone out it. Gets a rate in my book, enjoyable listen. Not usually a jazz fan myself but this one had a bit of a rock influence and was just plain nice to listen to. Good job bro.
I'm with Craig; this piece really takes off after 3:20. Wasn't bad at all leading up to those riffs, easy to hear some of the comparisons others have already made. Production pretty decent too for your first recording, you've obviously got a knack for that end of the biz! Not as into this kind of music as I was a decade or so back, but always a pleasure hearing a virtuoso at work. Thanks for posting, and I'll keep a lookout for the remake too.
Generally speaking I jate Jazz but this I like. Has a kind of Zappa meets Beck late 70's sound. Some of the faster passages aren't as fluent as you're capable of nowadays but I'm guessing most of it was improvised and the feel is there. Like that slightly phased and reverbed guitar sound just after 3:20. Nice track, look forward to the remake. Rated. Craig
Its like you done this all your life, it fits your tone ,playing and all. keep doing this. Easy rate!
Frankarlos Zappantana-esque this is. :)
Oh yes this is what I Love. Excellent
Get a 70's vibe from this Kelly! Something you might here on the Mod Squad or something! Nice arangement and backing track! Great feel to your playing on this track Kelly...serious heavy effects on the guit at the end and some nice pinch's! Enjoyed this!
Guitar sings jazz - wow - great track.
Yeah, in there with Dan on this, ultra sweet jazz...really cool piece, lovely feel.
Just sweet smooth jazz. Love those vibes in the background with the classic Kelly axework. Very very nice indeed..... Dan
Fusion has been my genre of choice for several years, but I am also inspired by rock, jazz, blues and most recently, metal.
My recording/mixing skills have yet to be acquired, my playing is at best sub-par, but my enthusiam for creating music shall never waiver.
The bulk of my future lies in Alternative Metal. I have recently gained a keen interest in creating that crunch! I have no real "Rock Star" aspirations, but enjoy engaging in collabs to create something new and different.
I also build custom guitars. Please view my artists gallery for a look at some of my projects.
Thanks!

Cause We've Ended as Lovers: Great soulful guitar playing! Always interesting. Rated.Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie aswann - 03 November 2007
Insanity: Wow Kelly, this is awesome! Love the mix of guitar and electronica, the sweeps are spot on an there is also some lovelt whammy bar work in there. Love the Eastern feel again - have a soft spot for the harmonic minor and arabian sounds. Cool tones too, really look forward to hearing the completed version. PM me when it's up! Superhuman - 05 December 2007
Superhumnan's Phantasm: God Kelly. How I have missed you on this site eludes me. Seems everyone knows who you are. If I didn't need to head off to work I would have a new album to listen to. Be back and thanks for the DL's. Rated. Beluga - 08 May 2008
Zappa X:
I hear the Sheik Yerbouti style of Big Frank especially at about the minute mark or just a tad over. Dead good this dude. Oh yeah 1min 36 and it's got that vibe real cool. Great final 30 dude. Rated (as if there was any doubt) James Oakwood - 15 September 2008

This is one is quite different for Kelly, given the electro slant. I liked this track the first time I heard it, although there are a couple of rough edits the track flows in a nice unusual way. The track open with Kelly's signiture use of the whammy bar - something that is not easy to do at all. I really love the little diminished run followed by a more traditional solo break. Over the yea
This really blew me away, you can tell there is a lot of passion in what is being played. Element of several bands i loved came through, Sabbath being the first feel i noticed.I'd love to see something like this on Guitar Heroes, largely cos i'm no where near that good on guitar and like pretending i am(hey its cooler than air guitaring)Top notch stuff#:)
For a newbie/beginner, the composition is conceived well, and the arrangement was laid out in a thoughtful manner. I can hear a lot of the influences you mention on your page, but you do not call special attention to any of them, which is always a good thing for a player of your level. There are enough genres/styles blended in to make this tune interesting to other devotees of jazz fusion, prog r
This tune had me fooled for the first 8 bars or so. I thought it was a totally generic jazz track that some wanna-be would be adding his licks to. What I got instead was a truly artistic contribution to a rather basic jazz rhytm section that turned this generic into a genre that needs to be focused on. What was jazz fusion is no longer con-fusion with this artist. Rock meets Jazz meets Acid
While this track left no doubt as to why the composer named it as such, I must say that without a structured tempo as well as the frequent non-timed breaks throughout the piece I found it difficult to gather in the full emotion of the artist. Great sound and unique effects give homage to this artists influences, but needs more structure in this reviewers opinion.
