Last Stand ( Progressive Metal )
Hi,Thank you for choosing my site. Over the past few years, Ive been experimenting with various music styles whether it's showtune/soundtracks, acuostic, hard rock, or heavy metal. I will continue to write in all of these genres and hopefully, now, turn out more music in greater frequency. I've been a musician all my life. Beginning around the age of five, I started playing the piano by ear. I started playing trombone in school in the 4th grade. At the age of 12, we visited my Uncle Russell who played a wicked banjo. I was instantly inspired. Once we got home, I asked my dad for a banjo and soon after that, I was off and playing. Later that same year, my brother brought a record into my room of Yngwie Malmsteen. After hearing that, there was nothing more I wanted to do but to play the electric guitar, which I started soon after, and I have been playing ever since. A few years after that, I played in a high school rock band in which we performed in battle of the bands, a few clubs and, even won first prize in the county fair for a song I helped write. After drifting away from music for some years, my drive was rekindled around my mid 20's as I focused in on song writing. I began to purchase recording equipment and getting into digital recording with the use of an 8 track unit. Around the age of thirty, I felt the pull to compose Showtunes/Soundtracks. Boy, I really didn't know what I was getting into. Of course, I bought a computer and started experimenting with Vst instruments and various programs which I hadn't a clue how to use. Learning all of the in's and out's, lead to many long days and nights, computer crashes, blown up Motherboards, and a strong consideration of just giving things up all together. Happy to say, I think I came through it a lot stronger. Now, I've become much more proficient at computing, song writing, arranging, and of course, the all so difficult process of mixing. My Musical influences include: the Classic composers, Beethoven, Bach and Vivaldi as well as Modern composers John Williams, Hanz Zimmer, Trevor Rabin, Claus Badelt, and Basil Poldoris, Guitar great, Yngwie Malmsten The Trans Siberian Orchestra, Metallica, Kiss, Bon Jovi, John Denver and so much more. My brother Ray LeGrand also helped shape my musical style introducing me to so many artists over the years that I may likely not had heard of. I've also learned the art of song writing from him having worked on several recording projects together and even now working with his son Ray. But most importantly, it was my father who exposed me to music from the time I was born and taught me how important the gift of music was along with his unwavering faith in my ability. I hope you enjoy everything on this site and thanks for your interest.Justin Legrand
