Drawing upon childhood, Joys amazing ability to trancend genres stems from her culturally diverse roots. As a Peace Corps volenteer and former musician in Southern Africa, Joys father met her mother, a teacher from Swaziland. "When I was young," Joy recounts "we drove around in a land cruiser. Whenever we went anywhere, Dad either had his guitar or was playing records from the US. Growing up listening to the Doobie Brothers, CSN, James Taylor, Toto, then hearing Paul Simon's legendary Graceland... was unbeleivable." It is the combination of this tremendous background and her gifted ear that give Joy the foundation upon which to write both musically and intellectually meaningful pop. Joy is currently unsigned and is in the process of accepting offers for management and recording contracts.
